He was using Brenie Rico guitars I think. Not sure if its an 81 or an HZ. The XXX was just the regular one, 6l6 probably. None of it matters cause none of us can play as good as Gary anyway. Its how he plays.

Gary is incredible, a great feeling on the guitar!
Too bad I don't live in the bay area, I can rember that years ago he teached classical guitar as I read on the italian metal hammer.
about xxx: 6l6? well it sounds different than any xxx I've heard on clips found on the web, it'a a very unic sound the one of gary!!! I like it

Just the normal XXX with 6L6's with 2 Marshall cabs. Not sure which ones. both playing at once, 4 ohms to the amp. A 57 in front of one speaker of each cab. Sitting in a big drum room with foam around and above the cabs. Thats all it was. 2 mics per side. Not sure if Juan mixed the 2 into one track or gave Andy 2 tracks for each side. One performance per side.
