Faceplant Metalfest

I first went to Wacken in 2002 and the overall attendance was said to be 35.000 people, which was ok. In 2005 it had grown to 60.000 and we did well to arrive wednesday morning, even though the festival didnt start until thursday afternoon. It was noticeably more crowded, but still ok. The organisers were prepared and there didnt seem to be any major bottlenecks for anything. In 2007 attendance was said to be close to 80.000 and clearly, the infrastructure isnt made to handle that amount of people. Friends of mine arrived tuesday morning and only got an average camping spot. It was ridiculous. You had to wait in line for ages for everything, toilets, merc stands, controls at the festival entrance, it really wasnt an enjoyable experience anymore. From what I've heard, it's only getting worse and personally, I dont plan on ever going to Wacken ever again. I went 6 times and with the billing being practically the same every second year, it's not like I'm missing much anyway

Who cares? It's a weekend of beer, music and good friends.
Since you're looking for a second festival, I recommend Summer Breeze. It's a lot less of an iconic, well-known festival, quite a bit smaller when I went last, although my experience is a little dated, it's much better organised and DT are also playing. It's from the 16th-18th of august, so exactly 2 weeks after Wacken. Since you're already in Germany at that time, it might be worth a thought if you have the time. It's in southern germany though, between Frankfurt and Munich, so not exactly next door.
That'd be my 2 cents.

He's a she

Really? I have always thought of her as a him all those years. Isn't it great, we are all the same on the internet, the founding fathers' dream come true. Plus a huge amount of porn.

Oh, and: You're a girl? Post pictures!:Smug:

So, immaturity aside... I ordered the tickets. Looking forward to seeing DT in their own country. I hope they finally play Monochromatic Stains at a show I'm at. *nudge nudge wink wink*

Well, this was cancelled.
Fuck my life.
Now I have a week to spend in Sweden and no plans.
Where should I go?

ふううううううううううううう (That's fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu in Japanese), so it was cancelled??? FAEEEEN! And there I was, planning to go to Sweden just for this gig; thanks for writing the post, Jolty, I was looking for info on this.

Göteborg is nice, but there's more to do in Stockholm. I'd try going to Uppsala too. I also recommend, quite strongly, that you try taking a train to Oslo, it's not that faraway and worth the trip IMO. (You can go to the viking museum.)

Any more recommendations let me know; very sad about this :( .
