Yes well.
I thought i'd ask for your top 5 solos by any band. I'm sure its been done many many times and this is spam. But hey :)

1)Fear of the Dark - Iron Maiden (the solo that got me into metal)
2)December Flower - In Flames (raaaaaaaaah :headbang: )
3)Fade to Black - Metallica (perfect ending to an amazing song)
4)Wonders at your feet - Dark Tranquillity (just compliments the song so amazingly well)
5)Everlost pt2 - In Flames (ahhh so beautiful makes me want to weep every time i hear it. short but fucking sweet)

now you :D

Here are mine:

Dark Tranquillity - The wonders at your feet
Dark Tranquillity - Hours passed in exile
Dark Tranquillity - Single part of two (it's so damn ugly that solo, it makes it good
Children of Bodom - Taste of my scythe
In Flames - December Flower

Sorry guys, but Dark Tranquillity is not my number one as far as riffs go :(
1. Enslavement of Beauty - Malignant Midwinter Murders
2. Demons and Wizards - Fiddler on the Green
3. Dark Tranquillity - The Emptiness from which I Fed
4. Blind Guardian - Soulforged
5. Blind Guardian - And then there was silence (all four of em ;))

well, i'd pick the shadow duet solo anytime, but i'm not sure it tops my absolute list. gotta think about that one.

h

Yeah, I think I´d say that solo by Yngwie Malmsteen. You know, that one where he goes like "pleedy-pleedy-pleedy-pleedy-mee-mee-meeeee-meedily-ploong-dwiiiieeeeEEEEE..." ´cuz he sooo rarely ever does that.

Here are some wonderful solos:
Led Zeppelin - Stairway to heaven (probably the best)
Pink Floyd - High Hopes (the lap-steel solo is so perfect to the mood)
Deep Purple - Highway star(Ritchie with his classical sense for solos)

And there are so much more but these were the first that popped into my head.

On a side note: I'm gonna see DT live on Wednesday:)

Wonders at your feet.
It's the only solo i can tell apart, and that only after i saw the vid. :p

as i think you are talking about guitar solos, nearly every metallica solo does for me (ok i am a drummer,so what do you expect).

Thinking about it, I can't believe I forgot to mention the solo in the Metallica version of Whiskey in the Jar...very first solo I ever learnt to play, so it deserves a mention :)
