As for punk I'll second Dead Kennedys, also throw in Peter And The Test Tube Babies and Chaotic Dischord.

Classic Rock, really like Rainbow. Also Hawkwind is good but I think they go more with King Crimson or what not. Yes is good too, I really like Rick Wakemans solo albums.

As for wherever he falls under, Nick Drake is cool.
