I haven't been to a comedy show in several years (at least 6) now.

So I basically have no idea who is the best around right now. Saw a HBO thing with Dane Cook once, and he was okay, but I didn't get why people think he is brilliant.

1. Stephen Lynch- Sick, twisted, sacreligious, simply awesome.

"Craig is my Name"

2. Ron White- His delivery and facial expressions alone do it for me.

"I had the right to remain silent...but I didn't have the ability."

3. Bill Engval- His family jokes hit home like no other since Cosby in his prime.

"I'm a dorkfish"

Glenn, are you going to see Ron White tonight at the FunnyFarm?

And thanks for the lists.

Pablo Francisco, Greg Giraldo, of course George Carlin, and I like Robin Williams stand-up a lot too.

Definately check out Bits and Pieces dvd from Pablo Francisco, the funniest damn dvd out there.

I'm a big fan of the "weird" observational comics... Zach Galifianakis, Demetri Martin, Louis C.K., Maria Bamford, Jimmy Carr, Jim Gaffigan... these are some of the comics who have been on my radar a lot lately. Some other current faves are Lewis Black, Patton Oswalt, Ron White, Bonnie McFarlane, Brian Posehn (the "Metal By Numbers" guy), Pablo Francisco, Louis Ramey, and I'm sure there are plenty I'm missing.

Of course, I'll always love the all-time geniuses: Bill Hicks (RIP), George Carlin, Richard Jeni (RIP), Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Denis Leary, Steven Wright, Eddie Murphy, etc.

Here are my favorites some have been mentioned.

1. Steven Lynch - Thanks to Glenn for introducing me to him.

2. Jeff Dunhamm - Walter is my hero

3. Ron White- They call me Tater Salad

4. Bill Engval - I can identify with his take on his daughters dating "I am not afraid to go back to Prison"

5. Gabriel Ingleses - Yeah, but it was funny huh?

Yes. Steven Wright especially.

"I went to the grocery store to get some milk. I put it on the counter and said "hello" to the girl behind the counter. She said "Will that be all?" and i said "No, i'd also like to get this milk". Priceless deadpan comedian.

Mitch Hedburg
RIP... had some hysterical stuff.

5. Gabriel Ingleses - Yeah, but it was funny huh?
Hey! Does that mean i get to keep my weed?

 I love that man.

I've recently been introduced to the greatness of Rodney Carrington... and now you have been too: (Caution, brief nudity)

Dennis Miller and Norm McDonald are two of my favorites. A rising star who died much too soon was Freddy Soto. Pablo Francisco is good but some of his stuff is hit and miss….his imitation of the movie trailer voice is spot on though!

Being Hispanic, I enjoy a good Latin comic. George Lopez is king in this area with the late great Freddy Soto (mentioned above) close behind.

There are many others mentioned before this that I enjoy including Patton, Black, the metal by numbers guy, Izzard, Gaffigan……..

Although a show host, I have always found John Stewart to be very funny. Dave Attell is also an honorable mention.

Look into Jeremy Hotz if you don’t know him. Everything is “miserable” to this guy. “You know why you go to the dentist 2 times a year? Because he tells you to……there’s no rules…the bastard is just making it up as he goes”

I am a standup comedy freak. I like just about everybody mentioned in this topic.

Mitch Hedberg (RIP) is my favorite comic of all time. I had the opportunity to see him live (almost), but I wasn't 21 yet, so I wasn't allowed to get into the venue. What sucks is he was with some other great comics on that tour.

I also love Dave Attell (the Insomniac guy to some)...he's one of the funniest gross-out comics of all time. I simply can't name all of the comics I love though...there are too many...it's like when someone tells me to name my favorite metal bands!!!

1. Bill Cosby - the undisputed king, imo.

2. George Carlin - starting to slip recently, but still untouchable.

3. Jerry Seinfeld - watching his documentary Comedian gave new appreciation to someone already hilarious.

4. Steven Wright - "They say you never know what you've got until it's gone. I wanted to see what I had, so I got rid of everything."

I recently saw a Jeff Garlin(Curb Your Enthusiasm) show at a local comedy club. Something about fat people joking about the woes of being fat never gets old.

I think he's fucking hilarious on CD, but on his live TV show-things, he's not that funny and his blowjob jokes seem to always be atleast half the time of his show >_>

For standup, probaly Ron White and Carlin.
