And I must say: to each his own, absolutely. But how some people can be big into metal and not care about guitar solos is beyond me. I think they're quite essential for metal. Most of what are widely considered the best or classic songs have solos. I love them.

I love well done solos, but I can't even remember any of them, let alone what songs they are in.

I'm in the same boat. The only way I remember what a solo sounds like is if I learn to play it. Then I just think of the notes and it all comes to me.
