So. We all have our favorite bands, and with them comes the members. The members usually work together in perfect harmony in order to make them so awesome, but even then that does not stop each member from having their shining moment.

So, what you will do :) is post the name of your favorite band, as well as each member and what they play in the band, as well as what song you feel their best moment(s) is in.

For vocal moments, post which line in the song is your particular favorite.
For non-vocal moments, post what part of the song is your favorite for the instrument.

Pain of Salvation:

Daniel Gildenlow:
Vocals:
The Perfect Element, "Once he had forests and mountains ...".

Beyond The Pale, "And I remember when you said you've been UNDER him - I was suprised to feel such pain ...".

Waking Every God, "Wishing of myself to be a god - I'm wishing to be a god!"

Guitar:
King of Loss, the guitar solo near 7:25 - 8:26.

Song For The Innocent, the guitar solo around 1:25 - 2:42

Beyond The Pale, guitar solo around 5:30 - 6:20

Johan L.:
Drums:
Nihil Morari, amazing section from 2:25 - 5:13

The Perfect Element - Percussion outro

Her Voices, amazing section 3:55 - 7:20

Johan H.:
Guitar:
Nihil Morari, main riff.

12:5 Reconciliation, solo 2:38 - 2:57

Iter Impius, solo from 3:10 - 4:07

Frederik:
Keyboards:
Pluvius Aestivus, whole song.

Dedication, whole song.

Her Voices, amazing section 4:21 - 6:40

Kristoffer: (sadly no longer part of them)
Bass:
People Passing By, slap bass intro.

Nightmist, slap bass section around 2:40 - 3:16

Martius Nauticus II, contrabass for the win =)

Gorgoroth
Vocals: The long ass scream in A World to Win and all the time in general
Guitars: They are noisy and serve their purpose. A World to Win stands out as usual because it's awesome.
Bass: Yeah whatever.
Drums: All the time.

Ulver:
Garm:
Chants on Bergtatt

Vocals on Nowhere/Catastrophe, Little Blue Bird, and all of Blood Inside

Session musicians filled in the rest of my favorite parts of the band. Haavard's guitar work on I Troldskog Faren Vild was impressive though

Cool. Now how about about some more of your awesome toilet vocals?

Iron Maiden

Bruce Dickinson: Hallowed be thy Name probably
Dave Murray: dunno, any of the earlier solos
Adrian Smith: Wasted Years
Steve Harris: melodic solo in Powerslave or Stranger in a Strange Land
Nicko McBrain: probably something off Piece of Mind like Where Eagles Dare

Opeth

The Funeral Portrait: guitar solos

4:27 to 5:27

7:30 to 7:58

I'll do Maiden, too.

Bruce Dickinson: Hallowed Be Thy Name (Beast Over Hammersmith version)
Dave Murray: Phantom of the Opera
Adrian Smith: Wasted Years
Steve Harris: Rime of the Ancient Mariner or Phantom of the Opera or To Tame a Land
Nicko McBrain: Where Eagles Dare

Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising Force

This is for the line up from the Marching Out album because there have been so many line ups and I think this one is the best.

Yngwie - Black Star, Far Beyond the Sun, or Icarus' Dream Suite Op. 4

Jeff Scott Soto - As Above, So Below

Marcel Jacob - None because he had no input

Anders Johansson - Anguish and Fear (Live in Tokyo '85 version)

Jens Johansson - Far Beyond the Sun or Krakatau

Nice thread
Alice in Chains
Layne Staley -- Vocals -- He wrote few songs for the band, but this is my favorite line he wrote.
"Lonliness is not a phase
Field of pain is where I graze
Serenity is far away
Saw my reflection and cried
So little hope that I died
Feed me your lies, open wide
Weight of my heart, not the size"
from Angry Chair
His best performance would have to be on River of Deciet, with his side project Mad Season

Jerry Cantrell -- Guitar/Vocals -- His best written song is Heaven Beside You, although many others leap to mind
His best vocal performance is either Heaven Beside You or Anger Rising when he was going solo.
His best guitar performance is easily Man in the Box or Them Bones when he actually played decent solos.

Mike Starr -- Original Bassist, on Facelift and Dirt -- He wrote many great lines but the best is on Would? or Rooster

Mike Inez -- Replacement for Mike Starr, on the self titled album a.k.a. the Dog album. -- His best is on I Stay Away but all of the bass lines on the Dog album kick ass.

Sean Kinney -- Drums -- Tough one. Probably No Excuses.

They currently tour with William Duvall:puke: on vocals, who's best performance is when he doesn't sing, and Duff McKagen on rhythm guitar.
