Here's a somewhat creative thread.. What's everyone's favourite outro's?

The first two that come to my mind is Opeth - Deliverance and Pantera - Floods

That groove at the end of Deliverance is amazing. And the outro on Floods speaks for itself.

List some good intro's too if you want.

emperor - the wanderer
emperor - i am the black wizards
opeth - white cluster
opeth - deliverance
ulver - i troldskog faren vild
ulver - ulvsblakk
nile - unas, slayer of gods
nile - khetti satha shemsu
nile - ruins
gorguts - testemonial ruins
pain of salvation - the perfect element
pain of salvation - iter impius
cynic - how could i
rush - vital signs
death - perenial quest
devin townsend - the death of music
syl - info dump

and for those in the know: darkthrone - as flittermice as satan's spies ;)

cool thread btw

The following list is to me a list of DEFINITIVE outros and ways to finish some of the greatest songs ever written...as well as some personal favorites of mine. If you havent heard them, i definitely recommend finding them...

Yes - Heart of the sunrise (best outro ever ever ever, or ill stab you in the face)

Simon and Garfunkel - bridge over troubled water

Morte Macabre - symphonic holocaust (epic and intense as any ive heard)

King Crimson - Epitaph (cryahahahayinnnnggggggg)

At the gates - suicide nation (suicide, suicide...jaws...locked around your spine!)

In Flames - Behind Space (original from lunar strain w/ acoustic outro)

Judas Priest - Blood Red Skies (youll never take meee aliveeee!!!)

Morbid Angel - Nothing but fear (amazing solo outro by azagthoth...listen to it)

Fleetwood Mac - Sara (such an emotional and superb performance by stevie)

Led Zeppelin - Over the hills and far away (undeniably classic and catchy)

The Beach Boys - God Only Knows (fuckin duh .if you dont know it...kill yourself)

Marvin Gaye - Whats goin on (yea...again...duh.)

Elton John - Rocketman (makes you feel like you just experienced something very special in the world of music)

Carpenters - Rainy days and mondays (a bit cheesey yes, but some remarkable harmonies)

Bjork - Unison (her ending vocal bursts are maybe the most vocal intensity and emotion ive heard in music for a very long time.)

The Mars Volta - Citricaz ESP (ivve defeccteddd!!! with all the nutty stuff...very interesting stuff for music made a few years ago)

Paatos - Tea (maybe the most haunting ending to a song...ever. ive been hooked ever since.)

thanks for reading everyone! and thanks for starting this thread. i havent had this much fun on this forum in a while...playing cat and mouse with my albums was a challenge.

The first couple that came to mind were:

King Crimson - Starless and Bible Black
Opeth - Moonlapse Vertigo

Wreath

A few notes build you up...then a slight pause...

da do do do da do do do do dum!

And then Deliverence jumps right up in your face and you're like "SHIT THAT'S AWESOME"

can't think too well right now, but here's some from the top of my head:

Black Sabbath - Warpigs, Faeries Wear Boots
Led Zeppelin - Achilles Last Stand (same riff as the intro but I love it)
Porcupine Tree - Mellotron Scratch
After Crying - A Gadarai Megszállott (they're a sweet prog band)
Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be They Name (that riff + haaaaalllowweed be thy naaaaaaame  )
Metallica - Fade To Black (great solo)

as for Opeth, Credence and Epilogue end with beautiful riffs....

Moonlapse Vertigo, best vocal harmonies ever. :P

Furthermore, as I'm listening to Immmortal's At The Heart Of Winter, that Withstand The Fall Of Time outro riff is pretty badass too (although it also shows up in the middle of the song somewhere).

Enslaved; a Darker Place

such a cool dark atmospheric ending

That is a great song, but the ending of ...As Fire Swept Clean The Earth is better imo.
Areogramme's Wood has a pretty kickass ending too.
