This one sometimes differs from your favourite song.

For me, sometimes learning a song can utterly spoil the enjoyment of listening to it. I remember learning the hammer-on bit on "Always With Me, Always With You" by Steve Vai (Yeah, yeah... I was young and stoopid...)

Once I'd figured it out I ended up only hearing the notes I was playing with my left hand

So I chucked the guitar away and played drums from then on! :headbang:

Anyhoo, for me...

Hallowed. (all-time favourite song anyway)

ROTAM. (The song's boring to listen to but the whole feel of the song is excellent)

And anything with Nicko's fast single bass-drum runs e.g. Where Eagles Dare, Wickerman, Blood Brothers. I'm in no way a great drummer so I'm proud as hell being able to do that!!!

Well this is gonna’ sound like blasphemy, but right now one of my favorite songs is “Electric Eye”, yea got me a wicked rendition going on it now:headbang: , with head banging:headbang: , sweeping and tapping; it helped to watch Glen actually play it though…

The first time that I sang "Hallowed be thy name" all the way through and correctly pronoucing the words in the song. :headbang:

It took me about 2 weeks to constantly practice on that song before I got it right.

The first time that I sang "Keeper of the 7 Keys title song" from Helloween all the way through and correctly pronouncing the words in the song as well.

It took me a whole month to constantly practice on that song. That song is a total nightmare to sing.

always is a satch song :) i learned it too but chucked it for megadeath \m/ which is ALOT more fun to play hahahah

MegaDETH Sara! ;) Tsk tsk! :D

Graham, I can't believe you think ROTAM is boring to listen to but each to their own!

Anyways, my favourite Maiden songs to play (on guitar unless stated) are Caught Somewhere In Time, The Trooper, Killers (on bass), Two Minutes To Midnight and Number Of The Beast.

Non-Maiden songs I like to play include HIM's Wings Of A Butterfly, Megadeth's She-Wolf, Metallica's Prince Charming and Master Of Puppets and Pearl Jam's Spin The Black Circle. :D I love attempting to play Motley Crue's Girls, Girls, Girls and Guns N' Roses' Sweet Child O' Mine and Paradise City on the drums.

maiden wise flightof icarus
Yea it's kinda' fun, I like the turn around; I've seen some guys try to play that with power chords, but it's actually played with open strings, sounds much better and is the logical consitant.

Still Life... its easy, yet challenging in spots... that and I transcribed it by ear from the horrible Cherry Lane tabulature, so its a point of pride for me. About a year ago, between watching him play it on Maiden England and listening and noodling, I learned Adrian's solo, and its just fun to play.

Losfer Words comes in at a very close second, as that was the first song I ever learned to play.... I always feel better about my playing when I nail that song. I'm still learning Adrian's solo there, but its fun just to bang it out.

I absolutely love to play Where Eagles Dare, I feel so...so...GREAT when I'm doing so!! and a friend tells me I play it nicely, so even better for me:D
I also love Transylvania, I like how the bass sounds in that song, specially when it speeds up!(that's where my username came from, how I like to play that song on bass):)
Those are the two songs that I love most, and Blood Brothers is soon to become part of that list, I'll cover it this year with a band I'm starting.

I’ll tell you another real good one, and very fun rhythm to play, it is The Mercenary. Janick Gers wrote it... Shows how good he is; you know I used to think that it sounded like typical Iron Maiden.
