feedback @what was your solo thread--second edition

I claim #8. :)

Great job everybody! Now, when I have some time on my hands, I'll learn and steal all your best licks, mwahaha! :D
Now seriously, it's great to see other peoples approach, as there are some quite different ones displayed!

As Steve said in his last post on the now closed thread, #6 was Matthew Pigott (mpigott).

I still say yours was best Fifth_Horseman... Very drunken pirate-like.

Well done everyone.

I Kinda freestyled mine. It took 450 takes over three days.

And it turned out whack

no.12.

Number 6 here......Moonlapse...i just played in minor/harmonic minor, as well as phrygian dominant in some places. Since the backing track droned on one note for so long, and when the break came it wasonly one chord, you could really get away with a whole lot, so i used phryg. dominant (5th mode of harmonic minor) on more than one chord...sortof a paralell minor idea. Thanks for the nice words, and congrats on the win....im excited for the next BT....Cheers :kickass:

haha you caught me....The second i heard the backing track i thought....."gotta go for the malmsteen" haha. I hope the next BT is a sharp contrast to this one. Not that this one was bad, but i like alot of chord changes to really bring out the best in my playing, and i definitly struggled with the last one.. Keep shredding!:headbang:

Struggled......yeah, right...:loco:

Dunno why I went with that backing...just something simple to shred over in Em.

I'd just like to say: it took me aaaaages to vote. Couldn't pick between nearly all of 'em for a week. Had to resort to a written evaluation of each solo, lol...(for the three people who'd be remotely interested) here's what I wrote:

1 Starts well. Like the harmonies & phrases. Didn't use the end bit.

2 Nice range of notes. Some bits sound like they're falling behind. A little repetition here & there.

3 Good beginning, Like the harmonies. Some nice phrasing. Used the end bit!!

4 Nice take on the rhythm. Packs a lot in!! Best so far. (buzzing lets it down a bit)

5 Not as accomplished as others, but plays melodically within limits = clever. Tapping too!!

6 Me like!!

7 Me like this too. Slidey bit at 00:20 rocks. Used the end bit well.

8 Notes all the same length most of the way through (v melodic though, and consistent :)). Open strings & tapping. Used end bit well.

9 Whammy!!! Cool.

10 Old school!! [btw - this is a good thing :)]

11 Like this too. Very Tony MacAlpine. Great ending.

12 Different. [I did like the ideas on this one, but some of it was a l'il to "jazz scales" for me, if you know what I mean]

This is only my opinion, based on what I heard.

If this is now the level of entries then "Club Zero" here I come...

Do we know who did which one for all 12 yet?

Number 11 here, a lot of good solo's! Next comp should be quite different, I cant wait!

Damn, you took your time...

btw, as I'm #8 I can tell you: I didn't play any open notes... because I used my Rhoads which is tuned to Eb! All the open notes would have sounded awful.
Didn't make it easier for me, that's for sure...
