finally I`ve managed to mic up my newly loaded 1960 cab. (now 2 v30s + 2 gt65s).
so I mic`ed up a v30, shitty room, pretty low volume, 57 angled pointing at dustcap. guitar was my ibanze rg570 with an sh-4.


1. 2 takes, high gain (12 o clock), raw(HP,LP)
2. 2 takes, high gain, + EQ


3. 2 takes, high gain, 808, raw(HP,LP)
4. 2 takes, high gain, 808, + EQ


5. 4 takes, low gain, 808, raw(HP,LP)
6. 4 takes, low gain, 808, + EQ


7. nocturnal style: 2 takes, doubled (copied), 808, + EQ

cool, ich mag den sound! kann mir vorstellen, dass das mit nem 5150 gut klingt.
hab mal n bisschen mitm EQ rumgespielt: http://www.keinezeit.de/mp3s/4raw_eq.mp3

müsste vielleicht noch n bisschen mehr c4 rein und ich würd noch n tacken weniger gain nehmen.
aber klingt sonst geil!

settings (varied them for the right takes a bit):
(everything in o´clock)

2 takes:
gain: 12
bass: 2:30
mid: 2:30
treb: 1
pres: 4
vol: 9

4 takes:
gain: 10
bass: 2:30
mid: 2:30
treb: 1
pres: 4
vol: 9


yeah, right? the nocturnal thing sounds awesome. It sould only make the tracks louder but I panned them more inside and gave them a different eq... (check out the suecof interview, posted hear a few weeks ago..., they used this technique! (I still don`t get it though , I mean, it shouldn`t make any sense...)
but I like the "4 takes" much more than the "2 takes"..

(yeah, I`d love to pair it up with a other good amp, but the only thing I can manage is a jcm 800/900 or jmp...)

I also own a fireball and I'm buying a second amp for recording. I don't know if I should pick up a krank rev jr. or a 6505. what do you think? thanks for the settings, by the way.

I would get a 6505 or a rec, something with balls. (or, if I had the money, an invader or diezel)
wait a minute....., I could actually get a diezel for a few days! I know a guy, he owns a herbert I think and a custom 4x12. hmm, that would be quite nice

Lobster, I read the article you where talking about yesterday and have to say: I don't get it.

The guitars on Nocturnal are double tracked, right? And they splitted them into four guitar tracks after reamping. Eq'ed two of 'em. Does that mean they let the others completely untouched? Even no low/high pass?

And I wonder how they can turn up the lows so much without getting boomy...
