Ok. I understand there is some peaking in there. I'm fighting with my master bus with this. It's probably got a little too much high end in there too. I figured out what my problem is on that and it should be taken care of when I really mix this. This is probably 90% of how I want it to sound though..obviously with less high end and no peaking. :)

Gtr- pod farm diamond plate with a Caparison Horus
drums - everyone's favorite overused slate samples mixed with some superior drummer snare.
Some EQWL strings and voices
Some vangaurd as well

Feedback would be helpful!

haha Yeah..makes total sense...this stuff is totally an acquired taste. Thanks for looking past it and judging the mix!

Wow! Thanks for the feedback guys! It is TDWP-ish, Zack. Joey does do this genre really well..although Josh Wickman just did an amazing job on his "Sturgis-style" mix.

Erik, I'm flattered you liked the mix! Mostly because I look up to your stuff! Obviously I'm a new around here and I'm super happy I found this forum of "like-minded" engineers.

Again, thanks for the feedback everyone!

Did you master it yourself? I really like the loudness/dynamics. Not shabby at all!

I did master it myself in Protools with 2 instances of Ozone 4 on the master buss. I do plan on going through this again using the "gclip" method, but with the Stillwell plugin (since I'm on a mac and gclip doesn't exist on mac) I really like how loud it is..but I'm having issues with the clean singing vox clipping the limiter in the first instance of Ozone on the master buss.

So I'm thinking if I clip some drums (snare/toms) I might be able to bring the levels up a little more with out having to compress as much on the master buss but still keep the same RMS (loudness) I have now. Like most of us...we're learning as we go...so this is something I have in my head of trying. That's how I got to where I am now in my 'mixing/tracking' stage...trial and error.

Anyone have any suggestions with my clean vox clipping the ozone limiter? I'm not showing any clipping on the meters of Ozone either. The clean vox are being compressed by an 1176 plugin pretty hard before being sent to the master...

Thanks guys!

I hate to go against the trend of good comments, but I feel like the kick and maybe the snare to a lesser extent could have more low end to balance out their very present attack.

Thanks JGolden. I like criticism..how else are we supposed to get better at what we do? Although I love the ego boosts the good comments bring....haha
