Of course, but it seems like an accepted standard to call bands such as Slipknot and Mudvayne and bands as metal.

First metal song I ever heard was Def Leppard "Rocket" which was at my cousins house.

No idea what the first song was, but my first - let´s say hard rock - album was Dynasty from Kiss. My sister loved the song "I was made ..", so she bought me the album for Christmas 1980. That is where my personal Kisstory started as an 8 year old.
