Hi!! I bought an old ibanez rg1570 (basswood body) in parts... The rebuilt is done and that thing is a player!! Now I need new pup for it.

I want to try something new... After watching some demos I want to try the new fishman. I just can't decide between the modern or classic.

Generally I'm always happy of the tone that I can get out of a mahogany body with a Duncan JB (esp eclipse). And I play standard tuning.
The classic can play nice with hi gain?
The modern are too hot?

Anybody tried both??

Thanks!
Jeb

The modern pickups are Fishman's take on the EMG sound in the active voicing while the passive voicing sounds more like a high output humbucker. I'm not sure about the classic set. Check out these two videos here for sound references:

I saw Unearth live using the Fluence modern sets and immediately noticed their outstanding note separation/definition. Sounded great! I have ordered a modern set several weeks ago which I'm still waiting for. I'll be sure to post a review and possibly some sound clips or DIs once I have got them installed in my guitar.

Thanks!!

I saw this one with the classic

I saw a post of a guy on the duncan forum saying hi tried the classic at fishman with a 5153 and was able to dial any metal tone he wanted!!

I think I'll have enough output for my needs

Maybe Lasse can chime in! I saw a post on the fishman facebook page of is ESP with the classics in it!
