I enjoyed this far more than Shadowminds.

The In Flames-esque melody that the song kicks off with -- and which appears throughout the song -- is the least interesting thing for me in this song. Feels somewhat derivative and In-Flames-cover-band-like. But the rest of the song is very neat. Lots cool harmonized bits that flow quite naturally. Swapping out Anders and Bjorn for Mikael and Niclas is an alternate universe fanfiction becoming reality.

I like Stanne a lot but I'm still not used to hearing him outside of Dark Tranquillity. I'm not yet sold on him here, but doesn't mean I can't be convinced.

I feel like there's quite a lot of Niklas in this track. There are quite a few parts that remind me of the best of newer IF. Makes me wonder if Niklas wrote more of those melodies than is generally known.

From what I recall, the only In Flames album in which Niclas has writing credits is Battles, and I believe he stated in an interview years ago that he wrote Wallflower (which makes sense, as you can hear a lot of similarities between that song and the Passenger album). Doesn't mean he didn't write for SC or ITM, of course. There's a bit of Engel on both of those albums.

My friend (not a big fan of melodic death) just said: They are using the Iron Maiden formula. Do what you know best. Do it right.

That's pretty much it.

Yeah, I know Niclas doesn't have any official writing credits, but there were parts in this track which very briefly reminded me of SOAPF and SC. The opening of the song has A New Dawn feel about it, and there's a very Siren Charms sounding moment between 01:41 - 01:45. The Dead Eyes melodic section to be specific, which was probably the best part of the entire album.

I dunno, it's probably nothing and just coincidence or I'm making nonsensical connections, but from what I've heard and read Niclas has written a pretty significant amount of THE material.

After a few listens, I still like it a lot. The song has a very upbeat/happy vibe that is more akin to bands that tried to (unsuccessfully) copy IF, and IF themselves never went down that route but I'm fine with it really. I don't find much substance in it personally but at least compared to the first single which was just a salad of parts tossed together, here they actually develop the idea and make some nice variations as the song goes.

I also admire Stanne's discipline to withhold from using clean vocals. It feels so refreshing to hear him over some music that actually has some sense of kinetic energy to it. I love DT and I liked the last album but their music nowadays feel like driving a sports car in the first gear with a fucking handbrake on.

If the entire album is of this quality without any real filler I'll be happy. It's solid modern melodeath, not original or unique at the slightest but it's fun and effective.

Hey guys, long time...Feel What I Believe is a great song, melodies and set up are very reminiscent of the Colony era.

Felt amazing at 3.33, similar to when i first heard Embody the Invincible and Anders screaming DEEEAATH (or something like that:p) at the end.

Only con is that I find Stanne's screaming a bit "flat" but its an improvement compared to the latest DT albums. His vocals at Projector were my favorite.

First single was ok, pretty safe choice but didnt do much for me. Excited to hear the rest of the album.

That's a pretty good analogy for DT these days. The music is still nice and solid, but you know the musicians are capable of much more.

In Flames is the equivalent of jumping into a Ford Escort from the 90s and being pleasantly surprised that the engine starts at all.

That's pretty much just Stanne's voice nowadays. He can't do those raw screams/growls from the late-90s and early 2000s anymore. Hasn't done since 2005 really.

Song is good. For some reason the melodies remind me of ASOP. But I was disappointed there was no solo. The build up was good, an epic solo would have taken it back to the old days for real.

-picture of Bjorn looking sad-

We know Jesper doesn't like doing solos. Not sure about Niklas? But if neither of them like writing/performing solos there probably won't be many of them. Honestly it doesn't bother me at all as long as the riffs and melodies are good.

Our new single „Feel What I Believe" is finally out! https://bfan.link/Feel-What-I-Believe.fpo
The song is basically about how it felt growing up and discovering extreme metal in our late teens. Delving into something that was both frightening and alluring at the same time. And having that as the sole focus as you started playing in a band and in essence decided who you wanted to be. That confidence and laser focus is what still fascinates me I love that this somehow endured over the years. This is basically us at 19 screaming "How don't you understand this?". And even if people around us didn't get it at the time at least they could see our passion for it and that's what this song is about.
The video is also reminiscent of the videos we saw growing up. A bunch of long haired people in an abandoned warehouse playing loud music while trying to look cool basically. What we did here though is bring it to another level thanks to Theo Gabay and his amazing team. I love that it captures the vibe of us playing and really enjoying what we do. Also it looks spectacular. Enjoy: https://youtu.be/N7shmyN2gII

Stanne seems so invested in the whole thing. :)

I quite like videos like this. No cheesy stuff, no cheap CGI, no idiotic wannabe artistic concepts. A bunch of guys headbanging and playing a good song in a cool location. I'm a simple man.

Daniel is really punishing that drumkit. In Flames meets ATG style.
