Five Former Members Of In Flames Unite In The Halo Effect

I once heard from the world’s most cited, but least reliable source (which is “Someone told me”) that Anders was originally supposed to be the drummer.

However, I don’t know if it’s ever been officially confirmed.
That's actually what the Metal Archives page for Anders says. It doesn't appear to be true though. Not sure if the person who added that part has a reliable source or not. https://www.metal-archives.com/artists/Anders_Fridén/6224

And just one hypothetical out of the many, this one is regarding Daniel: what if Daniel quit the band, thus leaving them in an awkward place, because he said he is tired of the touring life, done with it, etc, then you see him coming out of retirement to do music with your "arch nemesis"? You jump on that drummer comment, but refuse to entertain this possibility, or an even more straightforward one, which is simply talking up your current members.

We aren't speculating on what ifs though. We're just saying it's a shitty comment, which it is. You can talk up Tanner, who is a great drummer, without comparing him to Daniel. What does it achieve other than making you look like a bit of a dick? It's unnecessary. Besides of which, according to Anders you need to have done five albums before he can judge you, and Tanner has been on one album so far. By his own logic it seems stupid to compare to Daniel who was on eight albums. As if Anders is some kind of expert on metal drumming and can tell from one album that Tanner is, without question, far superior to Daniel. Get out of here with that nonsense.

He spent almost as much time with Björn as he did with his family in the last 2 decades, except for the pandemic times. Why is it that strange that they didn't meet? In 2022 they had 113 shows and if you add the traveling times as well, it'll probably be more than 1/3 of a year spent together. I don't think it means anything that they didn't meet, not to mention that it doesn't matter you didn't talk or video chat.

Why is it strange that Anders didn't meet Bjorn, who he says he loves like a brother, once in two years? Are you serious? Of course it's odd. I'm sure he has his reasons and it doesn't necessarily mean there's any problems there, but it's still bizarre.

Just one thought. Did he have to mention Daniel for any reason? Most probably not. So, what's happening here? Anders is a dick is the most plausible explanation. Then, we can go around in circles mentioning how Jesper started it first, as if Daniel or anyonje else has anything to do with it. I'm not mad with my wife just because she is still in contact with my brother (he's an asshole). NObody does that. Anders seems to just have a very high concept of himself.

I think he might have played one show on the Cyhra Japan tour. Could just be that he isn't healthy enough to do regular shows, idk.

Am I remembering correctly that Jesper traveled to Japan with Cyhra recently? If that’s the case, I wonder why he isn’t touring with THE.
Long before Jesper became an alcoholic, he was interviewed during Colony's Japan tour, in the middle of it he became ill and collapsed. Perhaps he originally suffered from a panic disorder or something. Maybe by chance he was in good shape when the Cyhra tour.

I’ve never heard that story before. Interesting.

Haha, those names are so trademark Stanne. Waiting for Uncontrol something something.

Also waiting for potato quality footage of the new songs.

That was my initial thought too. Those sound like Dark Tranquillity song titles. I’m ok with it though.

What does become an alcoholic mean?

How do you know he wasn’t an alcoholic since 1994? It’s called high functioning alcoholism.

That's as you pointed out, it was a lack of understanding of his illness.
I just meant to say that he had some problems on tour from very early in his career.

They were alcoholics already while making Whoracle.

Edit: Those two new songs sound decent

The Defiant One's riff reminds me of Paint It Black. Also, wtf, now THE has a Chris Broderick as well?! This is getting out of hand.

Jesper only played the encore apparently. Hopefully he's doing alright.

Man, I don't know what it is, but I just do not like Mikael's cleans in THE. I love them in DT, but so far every song where he does clean vocals in THE are my least favorite ones. I like The Defiant One though. Pretty straight forward, but I like the groove of it.

Not the direction I was hoping they will go. Decent songs but nothing special.
