I spent today re-recording an old song.

You can hear it streaming from here @ 256k

Podxtpro for guitars and bass
ezdrummer rock kit drums

Maybe one of these days I'll find a nice voice or learn how to do it myself.
Until then I've only got instrumentals.

It'd be really enjoyed by me if you guys took a couple minutes to offer some fresh ears and critique on this project.
Good or bad, I dont care... I'd appreciate any feedback anyone has to offer to gain fresh perspective on the mix.

I like the part that goes from 0'57 to 02'05. I didn't like the rest.

Drums are good, but i don't like the guitar sound at all. Very sterile/POD-ish IMO (especially considering the very "room mic heavy/natural" drums sound you're using).

Yeah man....
Everytime I think I finally get a good sounding tone with my pod (on its own mind you)... it sounds painfully pod on in the mix.
I did spend a bit of time on the drums, especially. thanks for the input man.
what sort of guitar tone would you suggest to compliment the drums?
I was a bit more focused on blending and shaving eq to get things to fit together and sound full without really tinkering with the pod.

I don't own a POD myself and i suck at pointing the right frequencies to adjust in the mix, but i'd try to go for a rawer/crunchier/more natural guitar tone with this :

-less gain

-adjust the presence/highs (POD eq) / LP frequency (DAW) to make it sound a bit less fizzy (it contributes to make it sound plastic to me).

-in your POD, try other amp heads/cabs/mics sims, and also try the cab impulses people posted.

I've heard quite good POD tones on this forum, not too plastic POD sounding, so check the threads in this section that involved a POD.

EDIT: i just realized you were a senior member so i guess my 2 cents is only 0,2 cent worth or something and won't help you that much.
