axenrot is a much more stable drummer live. i'd go as far as saying he's a better drummer than lopez was on his first recorded studio performance. some of the intricacies on watershed are incredible (ie some of the ride patterns etc.). in closing, please vacate this vicinity. thanks, management.

I'm not saying Fredrik or Axenrot are bad musicians, they're not. I just started liking Opeth back in the early 2000's and seeing Lopez and Peter leave just... sucked.

I mean when I thought of Opeth, in my mind I saw Mikael, Peter, Mendez, Lopez... and Per to a lesser extent.

Though they (Peter and Lopez) were great musicians (especially the latter one) I think Opeth has never had a lineup as strong as this. Axenrot may not have the certain style that Lopez has, but his drumming on Watershed is pure brilliancy. Whereas it took four albums for Lopez to show the best he's capable of (Deliverance, Damnation and GR are brilliant from his point of view), Axe nailed it right away. And as there's a little shredder in me, Fredrik's playing pleases me a lot.

Just go see them live! Fredric played Peters solo on Deliverance flawlessly, probably better than Peter ever dreamed of playing it. Yup, I said it! And, Axe made a believer out of me too...

Watershed sits with me exactly decently. It's not more, nor less, I wish Watershed had moar. As long as their new album is above decent, I'll listen, but I don't know, their line-up tends to bother me, especially that Per guy. If Mikael changes their line-up, I swear...

Well, to return to the original topic for a moment, I saw Per doing backup vocals during Bleak when they played in Buffalo, so my guess is he's generally doing those for the other songs?
