After searching fairly hard for a midi and not audio triggered sampler, I found a free one that is still supported by its developers. My basic need was I wanted to mix in drum samples into my superior drummer mixes, but I didn't want an advance suite like Slate Trigger or pay $50 for aptrigga for just a kick blend.

Since I already have my midi triggers for whatever drum sample I want to introduce, this free plugin just works perfectly. The youtube video below provides a pretty clear way to use the vst.
