this is referandum is not about the iraq or other country's war.. its all about living free, choosing to live with pride and keeping all national tradition.. the world has been started to refuse the globalism&kapitalism this two subjects should have been understood by everyone!!! Psychotic, my answer to you is simple. Turkey DOES NOT belong to Europe.
80% of the country is in asia, the rest in Europe. A country that is far far far away from being anywhere near a democracy, a country that has almost 0 tolerance towards women, a country that won't recognise a genocide against Armenians, a country that right now is the puppet of the USA so that Turkey part of the EU would put all the burden of the Iraq/Iran border security on the EU. Last but not least, a muslim country has no place in Europe, sorry.
The entry of a country such as Turkey or any other country in the EU should be submited to the people. It is a fact that if today there was a referendum about Turkey's entrance in the EU, the majority would vote NO. The french and dutch set the best example, the british not wanting to stir a hornest's nest decided to cancel the referendum. The referendum set the example that europeans are tired of politics and want an Europe for Europeans first. It is my opinion that Turkey does not belong in the EU. In the end, politics will probably decide for all of us and thus will bring the downfall of Europe. We have been too nice for far too long. I don't care how nice Turkish people might be, Turkey's place is not in the EU or in Europe nor do I think that Europe needs 60 million muslims and all the cultural and religious problems that are so far apart from our modern European society.

Interesting thread...Belgar, you have a point with your arguments for saying "no" to Turkey's membership. I still don't know what to think. I generally think geo-strategically...and then I'm rather pro.
