From The Start.......Lionheart

I think it is one of saxons finest works ,it encompasses everything that saxon are about.... its a pity that circumstances dictated that it wasnt promoted as it should have been because it could quite easily have catapulted saxon up there to the heady heights of kerrang tv or scuzz ( i say that tongue in cheek)..... ps why isnt the upcoming tour been advertised in kerrang...

This is not only a great Saxon album its a great album period.

Well you dont really give me much more to add there mate!

Purely and simply a solid true metal album, This one i feel was within Saxon for a long time before it came into being, an album of great depth, a truely pure Saxon album that cemented the metal promise of 'Unleash the beast' , 'Metalhead' and 'Killing Ground' and all that came before. Dare i even ask where its going to take us!!!!

It is probably Saxons best album. And for a band that have been in the business for over 25 years to come up with such an outstanding album says a lot. It got good reviews, but I don't think it got the real credit it deserved. I haven't heard one song off it on Planet rock radio, still they play the early '80's stuff, why?

The only downside to this album is can Saxon possibly release another album nearly as good???????????

Its great that you feel that way about Lionheart. Im not sure if its my favourite album by Saxon (that would be Innocence or Metalhead) but when i listen to it (Lionheart) i know its the best they have ever been, which like you said after 25 years its one hell of an amazing achievement.

I have similar feelings also towards Priest's 'Angel of Retribution'. But i like to think that both bands are yet to make their best album !

Saxon are one of this weeks artists on www.planetrock.com where you can vote for your definitive Saxon album.Just follow the vote for your definitive album link on the home page.I went for Wheels of Steel not just for the music but just the time it came out and the great memories of my youth.Although Lionheart is fantastic it was very hard to choose just one album.Let us know what you would choose and why?

Lionheart my fav saxon album to date, great songs and great production, the album kicks arse, More up tempo saxon tracks on this album which for me was a big plus. My fav tracks of the album Lionheart ( cant stop playing it ) and english man o war, and man and machine, to name but a few.

For those that dont have it check out english man o war on the live album the eagle has landed 111 think it rocks big time live as well as on the Lionheart album.

Brill stuff and it just shows why we have our band saxon. Heres hoping for the next studio album to do one better, saxon are capable of that and Lionheart just proves it.

Yeah good point mate. AOL is my favourite Judas Priest album. It is great that two bands that have been in the business for 25-30 years have probably just recorded, if not their best, then amongst their best albums of their career. For me, those two albums are my favourites by Saxon and Judas Priest.

I hate to choose in this case.. I voted Unleash the Beast. (Wheels of Steel, Strong Arm of the Law,Killing Ground, Lionheart and Innocense is No Excuse lay so close to eatch-other)

Great link for the planet rock vote.
I've had to go for Wheels, just because this is when it all kicked off for me.
I've also seen a link for old tshirts, so I'm off to the loft to dig mine out.
I've a classic 1980 Wheels tour shirt and a Bomber tour shirt somewhere!
