Frontiers

I think both of these ideas would be great, or the formerly suggested idea of putting it on a bonus disc of some sort, but remember the point of the bonus track being added to a CD was to boost Japanese domestic CD sales, so making it available in places other than Japan nullifies the point of having it in the first place...

Maybe you think that sucks. I know it's not convenient for me to import; I'd rather be able to go to my local CD store and pick it up there. But then I don't dictate how the labels work, or how the Japanese population buys CDs.

I know I'm going to sound like an ass, but how old is The Odyssey now?

Edit: Post 500!!!!

*sigh* from a record company point of view I can understand, but from my point of view it would be wicked to get that bonus Content someday!

Yeah, but Japanese Bonus Tracks end up available in the US sooner or later. Take Metallica's So What for example. It was the bonus track for the Japanese black album, then it was released later in the US as a B-side, then again on Garage Inc.

Hopefully this will happen, but you must remembner Symphony X aint Metallica...so I guess we'll just have to wait and see... But Id Gladly pay another 30 some odd $ for the bonus content they had on all the discs, the interviews/movies/bonus songs... It would be pretty sweet actually the more I think about it.

And this song does fit well on TiO... I also find that the signing Russell Allen does in Frontiers relates closely to that of his Atomic Soul album, its more Progressive Rockish than it is Metal! (not to say that in a bad way)

What, if Frontiers was the bonus-track of the new album in the us and europe?
I could imagine this, but then there would certainly be another bonus-song on the Japanese-release :(, which could then be on the next album in the us and europe which comes out in 2007.

What results from that? The Japanese-Fans will also be one bonus-track ahead

My roomate ordered the Japanese version specifially for Frontiers. And I borrow it all the time just for that song only. Just the other day he accused me of piracy, because I did not actually buy the cd myself, yet I enjoy listening to it whenever I want. We have since worked out a licensing agreement by which I must pay a weekly installment to him to avoid prosecution, to the fullest extent of the law, of course.

Additionally, I am now responsible for collecting fees from any other friends/family of mine, or random people who hear me playing Frontiers either willingly, or inadvertently (i.e. someone hearing Frontiers cuz my car window is open.)

Just trying to make a bit of light out of this thread and all the debating about one's rights to hear or own a song, and all the other legal mumbo jumbo mentioned. Pretty crazy, and funny that all this commotion got started just from a question about Frontiers...

Before Symphony X was on Inside Out, acquiring their CDs in the states was just as difficult as it would be anywhere else. I bought my copy of Divine Wings before they changed record labels. After taxes, it cost me roughly $27, a price which is standard for double CDs. It was a Japanese import, and there were no bonus tracks on it. Honestly, I don't give a shit. Saving up for a month to buy it and paying such a large price for it made me appreciate it even more. Of course I got my money's worth out of it, I've played it so much I'm surprised it hasn't disintegrated. I love Symphony X and I'd do what it takes to get any album of theirs. Don't think you're (you in general I guess) the only one who has to go through shit just to get an album you like. It happens to all of us, and not necessarily with Symphony X, but there are plenty of other bands I listen to where it's a pain in the ass to get their albums.

So, I guess this is my conclusion at the moment:

1. Pirating Music, especially Symophony X, is bad.
2. Kazahana and I were arguing 2 completely different arguments.
3. The only people who really "Deserve" to hear Frontiers are the people who actually get the Japanese bonus edition.... and me, because I'm so cool.
4. Jax is right.
5. WChuck is still awesome.
6. Happy post 500 Req.
7. I wouldn't say that Urinalcakemix "owned" the thread, since after a while, it just became a pointless argument between Kazahana and I, but I'll say you did, just 'cause I'm too lazy to say you didn't.
8. Thread Piracy? Is that possible?
9. Mike Lepond is NOT using a Chapman Stick in the song Frontiers.

You pay weekly installments to your roomate to listen to Frontiers? You know, blackmail solves a lot of the worlds problems, you should give it a shot sometime.

That's GENIUS!!!! Or, one day, while he's not there, burn it onto a cd and put it on your computer or whatever you use to listen to music.

Lol yeh its an endless loop...I still vote on the bonus album

well, on the new shadow gallery cd (europe version) we got a bonus cd :) with all sorts of cool stuff. Romeo did say (i think) a few updates ago that he had over 2 hrs of music done. Maybe symphony x will do a double disc thing like that with all the extra leftover stuff.

Don't count on it though.
