Fuck it, I think I'm just getting a Honda

NADster, youre not thinking in terms of cost per mile. how is it more convenient to have $300-400 sucked out of your pocket EVERY MONTH for the rest of your life than to get a $2000 town car and put 100,000 miles on it? the ONLY way to get a leg up on the whole automobile industry is to buy a three year old car and drive it until you die. anything else and they are winning. of course, theres mass transit, but this is america hahaha

there is a problem with this ... old cars = no warranty.
i cannot speak for anyone else, and I mentioned this before on this forum, but my previous used car, over the years I owned it, averaged about $200-$250 in repairs a month ... so paying a bit more for something new, reliable and no headaches was a no brainer.

But I love to drive. And now that I can afford the car I want rather than simply the car I need, I do. Been making payments for nearly 2 years now, and honestly, it still doesn't bother me.
haha, i thought you liked to drive. anyway, making payments may not bother you but when you realize you coulda retired years sooner by putting your $300-400 a month in a 401k or IRA, youll be kicking yourself. you work hard for your money, be thoughtful of where it goes.

Who says I'm not doing that as well? Actually only $200 a month into my IRA, and the 401k is coming soon (company doesn't have it yet), but still. :loco:

warranty, schmarranty. what kind of peices of shit cars are you guys driving? and why cant you fix them yourselves? ive owned the miata since 2001 and put around 60k on it. how many repairs did i have to make? ONE. the slave cylinder went out. all other maintenance including timing belts, water pump, brakes, etc, ive done myself. the camry has 117k on it. ONE repair. steering rack went out.
spending $200-250 a month on repairs is insane. i honestly dont know how this is even possible. rolls royce or something?

i said average over the years .. dude, big man, American car needed ... = shit cars.
but wait, you said over the years? thats even worse. in five years, you spent $12000 on repairs? hahahahaha lurch, come on, youre exaggerating greatly

what is so hard to believe, did not have any car for more than 3 years, but you can have a tranny problem ... boom $2000 ... some bullshit front end issues $800 ... it adds up quick ...

don't forget I "actually drive" my cars :loco:

how do you *save* cash on a depreciating liability? i dont understand why someone in your position who doesnt drive much doesnt get a used japanese car. why do you have to drive a brand new car every couple years? its one thing to keep it for 20 plus years but the way some of you guys do it, youre just throwing money in the garbage.
car = worst investment ever. what else costs that much and LOSES value?

a) I want to drive a new car every 3 years
b) I don't have the extra $10,000 to buy something even remotely decent
c) I'm not dealing with all the bullshit associated with repairs, etc. on a used car, I just won't do it
d) I agree, cars are bad investments, that's why LEASES WERE INVENTED

Duh.
