damn, thats alot of miles. you like to drive though so there you go. you dont seem to mind. the thing im questioning is why drive a new car if you dont drive much, which is what i thought gugs was saying. further, isnt one of the appeals of the great city of new york its transit system? i dunno, ive only been there once, but thats all i ever hear about.

where the fuck do you get the impression I don't drive much?

@mark: i think you said that somewhere. maybe even in this thread. i dunno.

@lizard: you definitely should. it ruled the last time i was there which was probably '90 (haha) so it should be even better

Dude: field sales. I put 47,000 on a Passat in 3 1/2 years. 35,000 on my BMW in less than 2 1/2 years, and my Saab is at 38,000 after 35 months (and for 12 mos. of this lease I was unemployed or commuting 6 miles r/t daily).

I thought you said you drove a lot??!?!

I was driving double that for work a few years ago, and now that I "barely drive" I still put on more miles than you. These east coasters, I tell ya... :loco:

Case in point, after less than a year and a half, I sold my new truck with 47k miles on it.

EDIT: It was just over 2 years, my math/month skills are lacking. Point remains though.

Totally true; a "lot" of driving if mileage is the measuring stick is very different in the midwest/west vs. the east (specifically the northeast).

I can be in Boston, Philly, Baltimore or D.C. in under 4 hours, all of them. You're not in Las Vegas from Los Angeles in 4 hours.

pffhh you guys think you drive alot. I've put over 50,000 miles on my honda in under a year. Most of that is driving back and forth between southern maryland, virginia, and baltimore pretty much every weekend. Not to mention my commute to school is about 50 minutes each way, 3 days a week, and the other two days its a 30 minute commute to work. I expect my car to explode in about 2.5 years.

What kind of Hhhhhhhhhhhhonda do it be?

I guess I'd consider anything over 25k / year a lot, I think I only did that once or twice really.

Yeah, that's why I don't lease cars. I mean I get those weird urges to drive like 13 states away sometimes, and well, I do it.

Yea, seriously sometimes it feels like I live out of my goddamn car. Nadster, its a 2001 Accord EX. And Gugs, you can get to D.C. in 4 Hours!? Thats some damn good timing you speed demon :loco:

Well it takes me a little over an hour to get to D.C., and its about 5 1/2 to NYC, so I suppose that really isnt realistic. I probably take the stupidly slow way to New York too. The fastest I've ever gotten to baltimore was about 1 hour 15 minutes, but that was pretty much pushing 80 on all the main roads, by speed limit its about 1.45 or 1.50.

Yea the beltway is fucking obnoxious, I dont envy anyone that has to commute through that shit every morning. ALOT of people down here commute into the city, leave at 4 or 5 every morning just to get to work by 8 or 9, fuck that
And baltimore is the worst fucking city I've ever driven in, granted I havent exactly driven all over the country, but goddamn, 99% of the city is under permanent (re)constrcution and its so obnoxious.

Baltimore is indeed a tough city to drive in IMO. Really poor roads, and a lot of bad neighborhoods if you make a wrong turn. I've almost never seen traffic like I've seen on the Beltway before. Only L.A. and Atlanta have rivaled it in my driving experiences.

I see it's Practical Month at Car and Driver. Sheeeeeeeesus.

Hey Gothbalm, didn't your dad play hockey with Dolph Lundgren? I thought Erik mentioned that once but wanted to check with you on it.

I'm already hating this whole looking for a car thing. Do you know hard it is to get a halfway decent vehicle to around $300/month? Bah.

Going to look at a Mazda 6 i sport right now, and a semi-loaded 2.0T Jetta after that.
