Saturday April 14th 2012 @ Wakefield Snooty Fox, £8 on the door (£5 if you get there before 14:30) gets you a full day of entertainment from nine (possibly ten as I'm awaiting a further confirmation) of the best bands in the country. Or out of the coutnry, in rezet's case :p

LINEUP & SET TIMES:
Virus - 10:40-11:40
Rezet - 9:25-10:25
Seregon - 8:20-9:10
Shrapnel - 7:05-8:05
Vindicator - 6:00-6:50
Blood Sweat & Beer - 4:15-4:55
Thrashist Regime - 3:35-4:05
Desolator - 2:45-3:20
Risen Prophecy - 2:00-2:35

Facebook Event: http://www.facebook.com/events/136848049758267/

Vindicator will be recording a live album at this show, and Virus have just managed to sign to Adixtion Music to release their upcoming full length. Not to mention Shrapnel, Thrashist Regime and Rezet's upcoming releases... this is going to be a truely spectacular show.

So how many of my European brethren will be here? I've got one of my friends coming all the way from Denmark for this :D

Right, I may as well give the lowdown on the show - currently suffering greatly from exhaustion in the aftermath, my back, neck, legs and throat are compeltely ruined. Thankfully, the internet now works!

Risen Prophecy and Desolator were bloody terrific opening acts, both being infinitely tighter than the last time I saw them. Joebacca's Thrashist Regime (sponsored by Endor Pops) were the surprise of the day, being less 'pretty fuckin' neato' and more 'holy balls what the shit is this' badass, making their already excellent songs sound even excellent-er. Blood Sweat & Beers put on a good, energetic show too despite running over their set time by 25 minutes which caused a bit of confusion for a while.

Hour break, then Vindicator. I'll let someone else (read: Joe) fill you in there to avoid my sounding like an egotistical douche. Shrapnel, as always, were full of beans and spot on (again, far tighter than the last time I saw them - my buddy Rob from Kemakil stepped in for bass duties) and then motherfucking Seregon hit the stage. Then they proceeded to tear everyone a new asshole in the face, once again proving that they're one of the best bands in the countrey, if not the world. Rezet - the single most requested band there - were bloody enjoyable too, though as it was getting late I think the crowd was a little too exhausted to really go for it which the band were a bit unhappy with. Finally, Virus ended the show in fucking style by not only playing vicious renditions of old classics, but throwing in a bunch of excellent new songs too. Having been a fan for many, many, MANY years, it was great to finally see them live. Between them, I think it's safe to say that Virus, Seregon and Thrashist regime completely stole the show, though the rest of the bands held their own extremely well. Top fucking stuff!

Plenty of song dedications, drunkeness, silliness and homosexuality was had. Admittedly, we only made 400 on the door though this was only due to my lack of internet and subsequently, lack of promotion on my part over the past two weeks. So we couldn't afford to pay every band (Thrashist got 20, Shrapnel are getting 30 next month and Desolator sadly left with naught) but this aside, it was a fucking terrific show. It's always great to catch up with old friends, I for one hadn't seen any of the guys in Seregon for two years , Joe since BOA last year and I hadn't seen Coke from Virus in about 4 years or so. Despite the stress, the financial/promotional issues and the continuous lineup changes it was a colossal success. Everyone had fun, that's what matters to me.

The one question I got more than anything was simply "Are you doing this again next year?" In all honesty, I don't know. I'd like to, and since I'd now have almost a year to sort the show out instead of just four months, it'd certainly be much easier next time around. However, the only way we managed to afford all of this was due almost ntirely to my bandmate Chris who pretty much helped finance the entire show, and since he has a daughter on the way shortly, he's not going to be able to contribute next year. I'm unemployed, live in the forth largest city in the country with two universities and we're amidst a recession. So next year's show would entirely depend on ym financial situation and nothing else - we'll see. However, I'd actually like to do the exact same thing again without limiting it strictly to thrash... a Snooty Fox dayfest of thrash, black, doom and death metal would be utterly fantastic I think. I'm already in talks with some bands over the possibility of that, sinc eit'd be easier to pull a crowd, but we'll just have to see what happens.

That said, whether I go through with FTA 2013 or not, I already have bands willing to play. Only time will tell. But alas, thanks to everyone who played, attended, worked on the door, behind the bar or with the camera crew. It was bloody fantastic!

I had such a great time. All the bands were great for different reasons! Risen Prophecy set the bar darn high to kick things off, they're a bloody brilliant bunch of musicians, epic power/thrash. And some of the nicest guys you could possibly ever wish to meet too. I bloody love those guys! Then Desolator were just all about old-school thrash attitude, they were loose, they were fast, it was like a time-portal landing back in 1986! We had a bloody brilliant time after that, everyone was so nice about our set and we sold quite a few cds and shirts too which was a massive bonus. Really glad people enjoyed it, made it well worth the 700-mile round trip (cheers for the hotel room and the cash Dave, it's massively appreciated and really helped us; it's a fucking tight budget living so far away from where all the action happens...). Blood, Sweat and Beer after us were terrific too, they've improved a hundredfold since we saw them last year, excellent shouty thrashy crossover. Vindicator (featuring the one and only Dave Ingram) had a bit of everything which was a real treat, that faux-scariness of the evilest NWOBHM combined with some humour and an excellent set of songs (lots of lovely guitar harmonies) and a spirited cover of Don't Believe A Word by Thin Lizzy. The Black Metalish vocals made them quite distinct from the other bands on the bill too. Then Shrapnel, who I've been waiting to see for ages and they were worth the wait, tight as a virgin's chuff. Plus Rob Kemakil filling in on bass, a fantastically knowledgable and personable chap, I could talk music with him all day! (also check out his band Kemakil, fucking deadly stuff!). Then Seregon who I had never seen and wasn't so familiar with their stuff, but they were downright brilliant too (although I was distracted a bit by the singer's passing resemblance to Rik Mayall). I can really see why they've been a big name on the UK thrash scene for a few years now. After that were Rezet and while I enjoyed them a lot I did feel that Dave Mustaine might be about to call and ask for all his riffs back, which would have left them up shit creek without any songs... Still very enjoyable though, and I was impressed enough to buy their album (having enjoyed their first one quite a lot). Then Virus ruled the day (after a somewhat shaky start), proper old-school pros. Bloody good proper old-school thrash songs with heaps of deadly riffs, great at getting the crowd involved... what else is there to say?!

Fucking brilliant day.

(There should probably have been some paragraphs in there, but where to put them?!)

Doing Don't Believe A Word was excruciatingly painful. First time we've ever played it, and obviously the dedication to Shaun carried a lot of emotional weight.

Glad that not everyone thought we were shit though haha

I may may may be able to make it this year (depending on funds and visas and jobs and how much money I can make/save/afford to spend!)

If not, 2014 could also be a possibility if I've managed to get permanent residency in Australia (because I'll be earning lots and will be able to afford to use visits to UK as holidays to see family and friends and go to such fine gigs as this - woop!)

Well well well. Considering my life in Australia seems to have turned into liquid shit I should probably try to get to this... I barely have any money though so I don't know how it'd work, and I've been strung out on weed for two weeks so my whole life is totally unorganised right now... I really need to sort my shit out. :zombie:
