What's everyones thoughts?
I am getting into this genre quite a bit lately, it has inspired me enough to even start a funeral doom type project and it is going quite well.

Anyway back to topic, what are people's favourite bands etc. etc.

Firstly, Funeral is essentionaly doom metal but i spose slower and darker(waits for someone to post better description)
Check out Stabat Mater It's Mikko From DSO, the song Give them Pain is the most disturbing 10 minutes i have ever lived through.

I'm by no means a fan of the style, but I'm pretty sure funeral doom is just doom metal slowed to a dirge-like pace, i.e. like a funeral march or something.

Funeral Doom

We use the term Funeral Doom to describe the most extreme split off of Death/Doom. These bands have taken the slowness and heaviness of Doom-metal to new extremes. Generally, the bands create very distorted and depressive yet dreamy music. Grunts or some totally distored version of that are also frequently used. These are the extremists when it comes to slowness and heaviness. The term comes forth from the way the music sounds as if it would fit a funeral or funeral proccession (often moving at the pace of a funeral march).

Examples: Skepticism, Shape of Despair, Thergothon, Funeral.

i've still never heard any funeral doom but my guess is i'd hate it, since i find most regular doom pretty boring. it's like stoner with all the fun sucked out.

but then again i love Sabbath, Wino shit, Candlemass, and Sunn O))), so who fucking knows.

i guess what i'm trying to say is be a dear and upload a good example of what funeral doom is, won't someone? :Spin:
