The latest Funeral is so good I weep just thinking about it. I gave JayKeeley a copy, but he's a queer and hasn't listened to it yet. UM has an excellent review of it by one of our new writers. He's a very honest, straight shooting type of writer, so his opinion is usually negative unless the CD is top notch.

Hang on! I've listened to it a couple of times but I suppose I need to revisit. It sounded like it was done in the Saturnus etc. style. Nevertheless, it aint funeral doom....at least, it doesn't sound anything like Skepticism or Thergothon.

Seriously, it's one of those albums that MUST belong in every CD collection since it best represents the genre and also happens to be the best funeral doom album in the world. In fact, it's so good, it pretty much transcends the genre altogether no longer making it funeral doom, but just an extraordinary piece of music.

I'll give it another spin. I've been in the mood for killing is my business music lately.

To me, Funeral sounded like Saturnus, Slumber, Rapture...you know, another Katatonia spin off.

That's exactly what I think of when I hear that stuff, and I just want to put on Dance of December Souls because that is 100 times better.

Add some MDB into the mix as well, because...you know...MDB started this whole thing. It's a very good album with some really exquisite moments.

we're talking about the funeral album? it's amazing. the band was a forerunner in funeral doom the 1st two albums, then became something different, now they are more or less a great death doom outfit. eons better than katatonia AKA BMD is our only worthy album.

Some pretty neat funeral doom coming out of the latte sippin' libhole known as Washington. Nothing groundbreaking exhibited from these lads, just more trudging along, with an intermittent peep of light poking out here and there.

Met the guitarist over the weekend (super cool dude) and vowed to take a listen. Not too shabby funeral (albeit melodic at times) doom lies within.
