Why not have video capability ?
Is it because its more expensive ?

a) yes
b) because we want to take it to PPVII and they don't allow video, just pictures

I'm having a terrible time trying to find a digital that doesn't have video capability. Typical. They're trying to make a product that's a little of everything instead of just focusing on one important thing. :erk:

I got a kodak last year and I luv luv luv it. With my 258MB card I can shoot 30 minutes of video. Suffice to say it's all about the disposables this year. Too scared I'll get drunk and loose my Canon T7035mm camera. (Well I know I'll get drunk....................:kickass: )

Almost all digital cameras have video setting.I just checked out a couple of cameras myself in the internet. There is one model I run into where no video is mentioned but I don’t think that finding what you want is easy.
I didn’t spend the time to check the detailed info so I may be wrong but there is no movie recording I the basic functions.

Thanks for looking and the link. It's got video but it doesn't say what quality. I ran across a Panasonic yesterday that had video but only at 3 frames per second. That's not nearly good enough quality to consider as video, really. Other than that, it seems they all have video. Maybe I'll check eBay and see if I can get an older camera with the zoom I want and minus the video.

I checked with a buddy of mine who works for a gig electronic store here.I have taken all hardware from there and he told me there are not any that he knows of that his store supports.
He says that you may only get the features you want (Good quality and no video) if you look for professional cameras since photographers are not interested in movies but this means you may have to pay a shit-load of money.
Good luck mate…. :)

Thanks! I really appreciate the effort. :headbang: I may just have to go with my old standby. It's done pretty good for the last three Prog Powers.

Now how would you know so much about what is allowed at PP?

I've been looking seriously at the newer Kodaks. They have a 12X zoom with image stabilization and a bigger lens. I'm hoping a bigger lens would help with low light shots. The one thing I don't care for with the Kodaks is that they tend to be a little too proprietary with the batteries. Fortunately they don't do that with the memory. The one I'm looking at takes video as well so it would be out for PP. :erk: I'm still looking...

I have a Kodak DX6490 and it has focusing problems. It has nice features, but I haven't been happy with it. In fact, my first digital camera, an Agfa 1680 actually took more brilliant pix than the Kodak. It was only 1.3 MP though. I wish they still made digital cameras because it was a great camera.
I am seriously considering an HP. I own an HP printer and DVDRW drive. I am very happy with the software they included in those (and other HP components I have bought in the past.) The Kodak software that came with my camera sucks.

It seems hard to believe with 10,000 digi cams out there, there isn't a mid-level camera with no video.
