Dawn of War is good for playing single player, resource management is easier.

Pretty much any RTS I've played online, though, I've had my ass handed to me on a silver platter covered with spikes.

.

The higher end AI in that game though is so ridiculously overpowered that it is simply amazing.

Age of Empires II ftw

My friend used to come over, and he would just watch me play it. I'll admit, that game is almost as fun to watch as it is to play.

COH is kinda easy at first, but the whole cover aspect while being really cool, is hard to master. I'd say get Age of Empires/Starcraft/WC(any of em)

Yeah it is. Amazing game. Better than 3, imo. With the Conqueror's Expansion, my favorite RTS of all time.

My favorite RTS is Shiny Entertainment's Sacrifice hands down, but it doesn't really play like an ordinary RTS-- the gameplay mechanics are an acquired taste, so it's kind of difficult to recommend.

It really isn't that hard, if you get good at it, that is. What I like about it the most is with the right combination of spells and creatures you can recover from a seemingly hopeless situation.
The concept of harvesting souls of your opponent's creatures as a resource is just brilliant. I just wish they'd make a sequel to this game.

I agree; if they only combined AoM's new features (sans the shitty places you are forced to build settlements on) with AoE II, then AoE III wouldn't have been a steaming pile of shit.

Viking:Battle for Asgard was ok. i think the only part that i like about it was the fact that it dealt with viking mythology. if it was about like chinese dynasties or anything i wouldn't have got it.
anyone get the new GTA? I like it but its still no cod4

I've been reading Brian Lumley's Blood Brothers, and I realized that you could make a pretty fucking awesome RTS game based on this.
