Only played 3 and 4. Loved them both, liked having heroes on the battlefield though, despite how insanely overpowered they are.

Played Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Wasn't impressed. Combat was ridiculously easy compared to Oblivion, and the ending was anticlimatic. Was fun kicking orcs down cliff faces though. And setting goblins on fire. Other than that the best thing about it was the graphics, and the voice acting.

Are the 'Heroes' better?

Completely different games. Heroes of Might and Magic is an old 2d turn based strategy game. Utterly fantastic.
Combat in Dark Messiah seemed more advanced compared to oblivion; combos, blocks + different kinds of cuts, etc...

But easier. You could just click wildly throughout the entire game and still win. My friend did that, then borrowed Oblivion off me and got his ass whupped because he didn't understand the concept of blocking... was far more stylish though. I just wish it was more challenging.

Might have to check out Heroes.

Haha, Heroes is the Holy Grail of turn-based strategy games. You absolutely must.
There's been a considerable slipping in quality with the fifth installment. Could've been a really great game, but the AI is pretty weak. I still love it, but it's not in the same league as previous titles.

HOMM fans should check out Age of Wonders 2. Also a great turn-based strategy game, set in a fantasy world.

The world needs more games like the Heroes of Might and Magic series. I'm revisiting Heroes 4 and it's so much fun.
It is! HOMM 4 got a lot of slack from fans of the series but I thought it was great. Loved the skill system and the hero's fighting ability.

On a somewhat related note, I'm playing Might and Magic 6 and I'm loving it. :goggly:
3DO ftw.

You've never experienced a real MMORPG until you've played UO gamers hybrid. The classical, original, rpg. Even before the rise of everquest. Plus it's free.

It's really the only game I need.

Resumed playing Okami. A really good game. The handpainted graphics style requires some time getting used to, though.

Might and Magic 6 is good but I liked the seventh installment better.

So did I. I decided to take a break from System Shock 2 and pic that up for a few days...Although nothing extra-ordinary, it is still a great, well made adventure game.
