German rapper steals from Dimmu Borgir songs

Zakk, Corny and Joe are right. (IMO)

And if i made a serious post in this thread i would be too.. tihi

I couldnt care less about the OMGRAPSUCKS discussion, cause its a matter of taste and thats it. Nothing more to it. I actually have some rap songs on my pc (shut up, i dont actually listen to them ) and i used to like rap (age 10?) so..

BUT, stealing the music from someone else because you lack the creativity to make your own "beat" or "backing track" is about as gay as a faggot can be.

One of the few times I have to agree with Zakk (failure_of_threads). Shredtesticle, you are absolutely narrow-minded. There are seriously rappers with pretty good lyrics and who really put a lot of effort into making own beats.

Btw, allthis doesn't apply on Bushido, the rapper who stole the dimmu borgir song. He's just a piece of shit.

It's called opinion

like i said, if i want to read true epic poetry i can go here or here or here.

this is kind of like the "hybrid picking" versus "true classical" picking we had imo. if i want complex counterpoint etc i'll listen to bach, paganini, vivaldi, etc., not zakk wylde chicken picking.

besides, this argument spawned from

ok but how does you back up metal. a lot of people dont think of metal as "music"

which is a total wtf comment in itself. it's not like i went on some unprovoked rant etc.

^A lot of people don't consider metal music. It's just "A BUNCH OF ZOMG LOUD NOISES! HOW THE HECKZ KEN j00 LISTEN TO THAT STUFFZ"... A lot of people can't comprehend the melodies, they can't get their head around the music, to them it's just some cookie monster growling guy with a bunch of people playing really fast.

well find me a rapper who actually knows what key he's "rapping" in :p. music theory is the basis of all music yeh, and there's really no arguing that. some people have a good enough ear they can hear the "right" and "wrong" sounds (which are arbitrary anyway), but all of it stems from music theory, whether you understand what you're doing or not. "beats" with "lyrics" really holds limited, if any theoretical structure, which is why i don't really consider it music. its just poetry to me. and i already posted my opinions about that.

I'm not arguing with you, I hate rap, all I'm trying to demonstrate is that you're being close-minded. Let me stress again, I FUCKING HATE RAP AND THINK IT'S SHIT... but it IS still music. Your line of thought is very narrow, and that is the same thinking that leads to people saying stuff like "Metal is the Devil's music" or "Heavy Metal sucks, it's just loud noises and screaming"... people judge too much, and mistake opinion for fact because they feel strongly about the subject.

Also, not everyone knows musical theory, and music doesn't have to be entirely technical and stuff to be good. If people enjoy it, and there's lyrics put to instruments, then to me that's music. And there are rappers who sing btw.

and there's a difference between highly opinionated, and highly irrational etc.. if you'd like to prove me wrong with my opinions about rap, go ahead. i encourage you. i'm not provincial, just judgmental.

we've already had the religion discussion thread lol, but basically. yeah i'm super opinionated; doesn't mean i'm completely 100% ignoranant. so that whole "devil's music" bit is a bit of a stretch.

and thats what I was saying about theory; you may not know what the hell you're doing, but your ear knows if its "right" or "wrong." its still based on theory; theory gives your ideas structure. but even someone who "plays by ear" is still playing on theoretical structure whether they know it all not; it is the basis of all music. rap monotone really holds no theoretical content imo.

and imo rappers who "sing" are more R&B.

How can I prove an opinion wrong? :erk:

Not it's not  ask people what they think about metal. Religious people think it's the devil's music because of the imagery and themes involved with the lyrics. But those people aside, others don't consider metal music at all. Some even try to use the same claims you are using (IE: Beatles are better than ____ because ____)

In fact, play someone you know who likes rap/pop/whatever a song that you really love, something that moves you so much... and get their reaction to it. I guarantee you they will either say "It was ok, but not my style" to humour you when really they thought it was shit, or they'll say "How can you like that? It's nothing but a bunch of guys screaming to random noises, they play too fast"...

and i'm not religious, as i said, see religion thread plz if you want my opinions on hypocrisy, irrationality, ignorance, etc.

naw, if you think you truly have inspiring rap music, post it. i'm not going to bash it to save face, if it really is good. however, stereotypes exist for a reason; i will most likely cite one of my aforementioned reasons.

and i dont really see the point of "most people don't think metal is music." what does that have to do with me hating rap?

 You're missing the point, big time.

not really. you're telling me i shouldnt bash rap because people could bash metal the same way. well let them; i'll defend it to the bitter end. wasn't it you who said "its called opinion?" ill bash it if i want; i hate rap. just because other people can bash metal just as much as i can bash rap doesn't make it "unfair" or "provincial" or "ignorant;" people find ways to bash andrew lloyd webber ffs. or are critics "politically incorrect" as well? they're paid to be opinionated. so comments like, "well don't bash because people could bash back" are kind of invalid; so let them bash back. I'm not admonishing them for it. yeah, i'll argue the point, but i didnt make some rule that "metal cannot be bashed." whatever opinions i may hold on such a view are just that; opinions. if i want to make my opinions heard, i will. I'm not going to keep them to myself just because others decide to.

I wasn't saying "well don't bash because people could bash back"... I was merely trying to illustrate how close minded you being and trying to make you realize that you don't have to be that way, regardless of your feelings. But it's your choice to be that way, I was just hoping maybe you'd let up. I fucking HATE rap with a passion, but I won't go as far as to say it's not music. If you don't feel it's music, then fine. But don't say that it's not in a factual way

lol didn't mean it to be factual. its an opinion; i just didnt put imo after every sentence

and its not really close minded in the sense that i encourage people to try and share their rap. i'll listen to it. you gave me the scenario of playing metal for a rap/pop friend; well they just hear the metal they want to hear (stereotype), and oftentimes don't even listen to what's playing . like telling me russell allen is shitty at "screaming" haaa. my tastes tend to gravitate toward more complex and sophisticated compositions; simple stuff has been rehashed, typical, unimaginative, etc. imo, rap is primitive and simplistic, if that. so i really don't see a point in listening to it other than highly passive, un-absorbing, easy-listening, etc. its only when people start "hailing the musical genius, creativity, what beautiful lyrics" etc etc that i go wtf. again, i liken it to the guy who goes to see break dancing because he wants to see cool tumbling; he should be going to the gymnastics meet. break dancing is a great sport; by means appreciate it. however, just know that these guys aren't anywhere near the caliber of a gymnast.

I don't agree when it comes to your view on theory.

Rap isn't music because it's not really based on theory? Or at least it's not based on complex theory?
"beats" with "lyrics" really holds limited, if any theoretical structure, which is why i don't really consider it music

It's obvious that rappers focus on lyrics, but what you hear in the background is MUSIC with MELODIES based on THEORY. The fact that it's simple and limited doesn't make it non-musically.

What about punk? Would you consider three-chord-songs being music or not?

Hm, someone should invent "Prog-Rap" with long beatbox-solos

I could tolerate the existence of Rap if rappers didn't side against metal, making themselves a total disgrace of human kind.

Summer 2006 we were hanging out with my ghettoblaster and this chick shows up and says hey, you've the player, I've the music, let's combine our powers! :erk: Needless to say I was pretty much like would you please gtfo

you need to know some more rapper or hiphoper if you say they side against metal.
I used to hang around with some dudes once per week (they were selling good shit btw:lol:) they were totally gangsta-like and loved that lifestyle but we were friends.
We played that drinking game and one of them said '' ok rapper against rockers '' then the other guy said ''no wait long haired vs. rapper ''(he had 'long' hair.. compared to his mates) and walked over to us
So.. you can get along with them. Sure, there are lots of stupid hip hop guys..But look, how many people here said something against them.
Some of them are really funny and cool dudes.
