Nothing is WRONG with his playing. Hes a solid guitarist. His songwriting nowadays is the problem. I preferred his playing on POE and DNB. Less "I am going to play a billion miles an hour and you are going to like it" and more " hey listen to this cool melody and theme I created"

This argument is dumb. Insanely great metal musicianship? Hello Dream Theater. Some of the best metal musicians in the world. Can they write a song to save their lives? No. You can have all of the musicianship in the world and SUCK FUCKING ASS at writing songs.
this i can half agree on. But I still think of things like the Born chorus, which may be really technical, but combined with the OTHER elements of the band, the riff creates an amazing and memorable moment in music.

I don't hate Jeff, I just hate that Nevermore to all the new fans is "JEFF LOOMIS". Yes the guy brought in a bunch of new fans and that's not bad, but they all came in for the wrong reasons.
Nevermore was never about guitar wankery. It was about QUALITY progressive metal / thrash with thought provoking lyrical content and something to say.
Little by little Jeff has moved the band away from that in favor of more guitars solos, instrumental sections and practically impossible to sing over riffing. WD has been left to struggle to try and sing over riffs that are way to busy and try and make it musical, and still have the same amount of impact feeling and emotion.
If Nevermore would have stayed true to its roots, then WD would not have had to go out and do a solo album. He would have been able to do everything musically he wanted within the confines of the band.

you're fucked. Jeff's writing made WD struggle to write vocal melodies over? LOL Im sure WD would disagree. listen to , i dont know, any Nevermore song and see if anything WD does sounds forced? it's all so fluid. Which is what i was saying in my long post above. I remember an interview where he said that he and Jeff work together on this shit, and he also said that he writes the vocal melodies pretty quickly. I don't think he fucking struggled to write over Jeff. That's an insult to mr dane.

Actually the show in Texas was when I first met Jeff and WD. Jeff stunk on the entire bus cause all there was to eat was this horrible Mexican place across from the venue.
This was on the Dimmu / COB / Nevermore tour. Never got to meet them before that.

What argument? It was a statement. And I NEVER, EVER considered Dream Theater to be real metal. And even if I did, those guys have had an extremely long and illustrious career, they continue to sell out their shows, and their fan base is still growing. Just because YOU say they can't write songs doesn't mean that it's even remotely true.

Jeff writes ALL the music (nowadays) for Nevermore, without him I don't see Nevermore continuing. But I will absolutely agree that Warrel is the soul and identity of the band. I don't really mind nevermore breaking up, we're gonna get new sanctuary, more solo albums, and hopefully Attilla and Warrel can collarbrate on more stuff. I absolutely believe Attila could write material for nevermore, but I don't see it happening though.
