Getting defective cds

sknight

Are You Morbid?
this is a post I made on another board:

How many of you have gotten cd's that were defective?

The reason why I bring this up is because I recently bought a cd that I recommended here. It's awesome, but the fact remains that the cd is defective. It's Archetype's Dawning. Awesome album, but each track has a pop that starts it off.

So I take it back to the local record store, which is a very well respected one that supports metal. Great people and they order a replacement. They also told me that the record companies make them eat the loss because "they don't make defective cds". I think that's bullshit because the record companies are now screwing the stores and the buying customers that support them. At leas they can offer the store a percentage back. Anyway, I get the replacement and it's the same deal. I emailed the band and they responded that it's with the record company's glass master and they are aware of the problem and future printings will be fixed, but why would they print the album before the older and defective copies go out?

This is bullshit altogether. I'm keeping the replacement cd because I love the album and I don't think the record store should get caught with it.

You can check out Archetype's message board with my posting about it at:

They are a great band, but I can't recommend the cd because of the defect. They said yell at the record company and I'm trying to do just that, but they most likely won't respond to me.

Hit them up with an email if anyone cares. They're screwing a great band and most likely this repaired version will never see the light of day. Of course, the band gets caught in the middle.
