Ghost Signs Major Label Deal Valued At Almost $1 Million

i watched this and wanted to punch him in the face the whole time.
what a fraggle.

That was my favorite comment. Especially the "What a fraggle" line.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Haha. Gotta love the comment section. I've even had a death threat.

So sorry you don't get the fun of GHOST. they are F U N band. their gimmick has paid off in a big way, besides they wrote some catchy songs about satan while channeling 70's rock.

Not everybody gets everything but to try and diminish what they have achieved is kind of lame.

I don't know 1/2 of the bands on PP this year, but do i come on here posting who the f*** is Kingcrow or whoever it is that is playing and why are they playing PP?!?! no, because i understand that the metal world and PP doesn't revolve around me. just because you aren't in the "circle of Ghost" doesn't mean that it isn't fucking huge circle.

This. I have no idea if Ghost is worth nearly a million dollars, but I love their whole schtick and if they found a way to actually make some money in this industry more power to them...and Satan, of course.

You're not understanding me. I've never heard Ghost. I've never seen anything outside of this forum about them, and rarely are they mentioned here. I've never seen them on tour, I've never seen them mentioned on any other medium I visit, and never hear their name come up anywhere. I really have no idea why they're so popular, or how.

I'm calling bullshit. They are on the frontpage of r/metal almost every day. There is news on Blabbermouth weekly. James Hetfield and Phil Anselmo have been photographed wearing their shirts. Their first headlining tour sold out most of its shows. They just did a massively successful tour with Opeth and Mastodon. It is literally impossible to regularly follow any source of metal news and not at least be familiar with the amount of hype Ghost is getting.

I seem to remember you saying something similar about Quorthon/Bathory, too.

The only metal forums I read are:
1) PPUSA
2) Bravewords
3) /r/metal on Reddit (which, based on your avatar, I'm guessing you're at least familiar with)

Without even trying, I see mention of them at least a few times per week. I'm not trying to be judgmental, but it's very strange to me that someone who's at all active online and into metal wouldn't have even the slightest clue about Ghost.

Sorry brah, I don't really pay much attention to /r/metal since it's a fucking circlejerk. I might have seen Ghost posted once. I see blabbermouth news from a few FB posts, I don't visit the site. I don't pay attention to what James Hetfield thinks would look fabulous.

Apparently, it's not literally impossible.

Also I still have no idea who or what Quorthon is. I've at least heard of Bathory.

It might just be possible Ghost falls into an area of metal I don't give a shit about and don't keep up with. I always thought they had a really devoted cult following.

Grats to ghost on that (especially if that figure is confirmed)! I still don't particularly care for the band. I think it's quite dumb to be honest.

I'm glad though that they have recieved that... Now how in the hell is that label going to turn ghost into a band that will make that money + label's money back? And why would a major take a leap like this? I mean I hope they do and figure out how to make it successful. Maybe then they would scoop up other metal if this is a Sucess?????

r/metal is indeed a circlejerk, and 99% of the time it's a circlejerk over shitty music, too.

What sites do you look at for news at all? Of course if you don't look at news sites you won't know news, big surprise there.

It's like being a self-proclaimed sports expert and coming into a thread saying 'who the fuck are the Atlanta Braves' and then, when being questioned, it is discovered that you only look at sites that exclusively cover women's curling. And nobody talks about the Braves on a woman's curling site? They must be unknown.

I agree it's kinda hard to not at least be familiar with Ghost, even if you're not particularly into them. I really like the band's visual image, but their music just fell flat for me.

I noticed that one of the guitarist for Warbringer was wearing a Ghost shirt when I saw them open for Symphony X and Iced Earth in Charlotte a couple of months back.

Exactly, there is really no way they can make that money back. BTBAM didn't even get close to that figure with Metal Blade and they STILL sell far more albums than Ghost has yet to. Not only is there this signing bonus then there is the recording budget and promotional budget to add to that million bucks. hahaha.

I have read they signed to some major label upstart or something so this could be viewed as a huge chance to promote the label and get it some hype from the get go but who knows with "record execs" these days. We are all a little bit insane. hahahaha.

This will probably just end badly for one, or both, of the parties involved.
