Playing the guitar for almost 15 years now, you wouldve thought I would have tried using this stuff at some point, but never have. Yesterday I got given some of this shiz for my birthday. Any of you guys use it? Good or fad?

I tried one a while ago, wasn't impressed. Also, I'm not crazy about the idea of having something oily/greasy applied on my guitar strings. I want them as clean as possible.

I bought some of it as a test years ago. I like to use it on sticky necks. I never put it on strings though since I've never had sticky strings. :D But it does work wonders on some necks.

never raised any data concerning the effects of fast fret but I feel that it prolongs the life of my strings. in addition, I really like how it makes my strings feel in my fingers.

It's down to personal preference I think. I used to use it but stopped about 6 months ago. I've found my strings last longer and remain 'fresh' for longer without it. I noticed when using fast fret, they would pick up dust and general grimy shit all the time.

Used it for years and no complaints here. I "think" I play faster so it must be good lol
Happy birthday btw :)

I had it. Tried it a few times, never really liked it too much, makes everything all greasy and seemed ok at first bit I started to hate having greasy strings after a while so I threw it in the garbage :kickass:
It was brutal......

Anyone notice the tonal changes of the strings?? Do they sound more fresh when it is applied?? Like brighter sounding or anything

I bought it one like 12 years ago. Used it once and didn't like the "oily" feel over the strings and in your hands. Never used it again.

I used to use it but I hated the little lint that came off the applicator that got all over the guitar neck and strings.

I like to apply it after a string change I try not to use too much because it will feel too oily but I think If you use it lightly the new strings feel nice and smooth.

Def don't use the crappy rag they give you to wipe it off. Use a good microfiber cloth that you would normally use for the fret board.

I think it does make the strings last longer I don't notice any tone difference and I think with high gain it wouldn't be noticeable anyways.

a friend of mine put me on to it.

for studio use it's kinda useless, but if you're touring it's great. put it on then wipe every string down hard. think of it as a cleaner - clean strings after every set and remove all that sweat and shit, then you will see increased string life! never goes that wierd kinda rusty either, which we all hate the feel of.

+1

I've always used it to clean my strings after playing. Definitely increases string life.

First time I play each lead is before I applied the fast fret. Only difference I noticed is it made my guitar easier to play.

Thanks for sharing! I did a test with Fastfret when I was doing my DI-shootout. My Strings were realy old on that guitar.
Made a clip before, after and with new strings.

Fastfret made the tone slightly clearer but fresh strings were worlds from it.

So my Conclusion: If you have a lot of guitars you don't use very often an application before and after the long time of sitting in its case might be usefull.
Most probably it would still be enough to clean the strings.
Can't replace a set of new strings.

Never tried it on the neck though. I'll give it a try someday.
