Gibs Died. :(

I just did a search to find out, and it turns out it WAS the first time!

(search turned up 14 results, but each instance was a case of quoting the word)

This calls for CELEBRATION!

sowwee about your fishy, Em.

My first one bailed from his tank and fried under a light. I had to scrape him off of my dresser with a credit card.

Sucky :(

Everytime something you "own" and give care for, dies, it's upsetting, and it doesn't matter if it's a fish or a cat...
Sucks. I know I love my bettas and when one dies I'm upset too.

Sorry Em. He lived long, and they usually don't pass the 2-3 years, so you did well!

Pretty sure she used a "fucccccckkkk" once, and everybody was like omg.

But sorry to hear about your fishy, Emily. I had a blue/green one like that when I was younger, his name was Giorgio. I actually had a dream that my parents traded him in for hamsters at the pet store and I woke up crying :p

My last one, Onofrio, lived over 2 years but died shortly after I moved back to Texas. I left him in Maryland for Derick to take care of, which he did. It was just his time to go.

Haha, I do remember! :loco:

I guess I've had four in my whole life. The first one was a red one that we named Ariel, like the Little Mermaid, even though it was a male fish :p

Then there was Giorgio, then Onofrio, then Rudolfo (whom I got here in TX while visiting home, but died before Onofrio did). My next one will have a similar sort of name ending in "o" :)

Thanks again for love.

After Gigantour in MA, I'll get another betta. I just hope he has near the personality that Gibs did.
I told my mom earlier about Gibs dying and she got really upset, too. He was definitely one of her favorite grandkids.

Ps. I'm not as clean mouth in real life as I am on the boards. Only because my mouth doesn't come with a backspace button.

Gotta love fish and their awesome amounts of personality.

I had this fish once... he was crazy. Used to talk about how he was going to kill a bunch of my pals and lay them out on the front lawn for everyone to see.

Then there was this other one who used to tell me in his past life he was a trout. Fun times.

Bettas *do* have personality.... well, as far as it goes for a fish.
But seriously: they're awesome. They will greet you when you come in the room, and some of my bettas even let me pat them
That's when I stick my finger into the bowl and with my pinky touches their scales: they just stand there and look and me with a slight movement of the fins...haha!
I have eight bettas now, and I definitely have my favorite ... (I named them all after people I worked with at Petco ) and my Marcello fish is definitely my favorite...
He is a yellow crown tail, and he lives in my kitchen. I love him!

Emily: I feel ya.

I always like the idea of fish, but when they turn out to be nothing like Sharky and George I always end up disappointed.

When I was three I emptied a bottle of baby oil into a fish tank. The resultant effect was that the oil created an oxygen barrier atop the water, and the fish suffocated to death. I saw a few psychologists back then, just to check I wasn't a Manson in genesis.
