Its like that everywhere man... Where I live, its filled with "mainstream" girls who do nothing but care for their looks and dont have an intellectual side, let alone a seriously musical one.

My gf is a music teacher, intelligent, classically trained and likes Agalloch so I count myself pretty lucky.

my university is an arts & medical school primarily, so it's filled with indie/emo kids and the typical hip-hop/rap crowd...

us metallers are a small minority; we exist, but not in droves, to the best of my knowledge

Indie's okay man, I love my (90's) indie as well. Emo chicks though... jeez, definite no-no, even though some are hot. It's such a posey scene.

I prefer it rather if the girl can appreciate "darker arts": it doesnt really matter if they like metal or not, but understanding and appreciating dark arts, dark music, dark writing... Makes a big difference in my book.
