Give me some ideas for our live shows

DanLights

Santa Hat Forever
I´m having my Doom/death band´s first show on september 19th, in a small but cozy and very nice sounding bar in my city, alongside one of the best known and long-running bands around here, and that band will be doing a Tribute to Black Sabbath.

We have always had the idea of making really theatrical live shows, I mean visually speaking, for example I was thinking of wearing a Neo-matrix type suit (don´t know the name in english), we will make a couple side-banners with the bands logo for the stage (or probably a big one behind the band), and maybe even some candleholder things (sorry, can´t remember the name in english either). Any other cool ideas for making a visually atracting live show for a Doom/death band? If you wanna listen to the music to get an idea, here´s the myspace http://www.myspace.com/adintra

btw That demo was made some time ago and I'm definitely not proud of the sound of it, we will record a full length in January

Okay...I really need to quit reading things too quickly. At first glance, I thought it said "LAZERS AND FROGS"

Now THAT would definitely be unique. :D

Hahaha, I read that aswell! Had just seen the frog screaming in the other thread (which btw sounds like my ProRPM without the groundloop...).

Do you know Fields of the Nephilim?
When they started they had no money and wanted an coherent stage look. they put flour on their coats!

wow actually sounds like a good idea (without the hat of course), I'll present that idea to my girl (guitarrist and pretty much band leader) and see what she thinks about it

Beginning of the show: dense fog, dim lights, guitarists, bassist, and vocalist have their backs turned to the audience, there's an epic ass introduction song playing (about a 1 minute sample) it builds interest and anticipation, you leave the crowd in silence for 3 seconds, then BOOM kick them in their nuts with a song. lots of energy

to get an idea of what i mean by introduction song, go here:

good luck, man

That's my wedding day!

I would bite and cut off the head of a bat. That always worked.

thanks for the good luck. yeah that intro thing is pretty much what we're gonna do, the dense fog is still in question, but the rest that's pretty much it (just replace bass player for second guitarrist, I'm the vocalist AND the bass player)

We have two flame effect lights either side of the stage and get the stage filled with smoke (when the venue has the ability anyway). Whilst our intro music is playing we walk out one at a time with the lights down then they blast on when we start the first song - our singer comes running on to start singing the first verse. Gets the crowd pumped and kicks them in the chest.

I want to get a pair of blinders for behind the drummer to create big flashes for the chugs at the start of our new intro songs.

As far as image goes, we're going more theatrical - we've been getting stick for being "too costumey" as it is so we might as well go full on!! Mediaeval tunics and battle gear all the way (we are a power metal band!!).

Run through your intro in rehearsal, if you feel like the coolest band on earth when you hit the first note then you've got it right!! As far as image goes - the matrix thing has been done to death, kind of like pirate shirts and power metal. If your music affords the chance to be theatrical then go for it, the more individual the better.

Perhaps an 18" high Stonehenge?
