GMD Poll: Top Ten Albums of 1998

You know deep down you actually believe that though.

Do I believe Venom is bad? Yes and have thought so for years.
Do I believe Celtic Frost is bad? I did for a while but I'm coming back around to the band. I gave Morbid Tales an honorable mention in the thread for that year tbh.
Do I believe Trivium is better than both? If we equate 'better' with 'more enjoyable' then it is a resounding 'Yes'

Yet we owe Tom something for taking a poorly executed thread idea and improving on it? These wouldn't have happened without my idea. I was the first person to do something THAT involved with those lists rather than people just jizzing over lists they post with no real outcome.

Progenitors tend to be crap anyway. Take Venom and Celtic Frost for instance. Highly revered now but their craft has been refined numerous times over by bigger and better bands like Trivium.

When did I say that we owed Tom anything? He isn't acting like people need to thank him for starting threads, but this is not the first time that you have acted like people aren't acknowledging how great you are because you made a few topics on a heavy metal website.

I'll bite. Please find 5 instances of this that don't include this thread. I'm great because of other things not related to this website but that's another topic of discussion entirely.

Why would I need to find five things? I only need to find one other instance in order to be right about this not being the first time.

My Arms Your Hearse is probably the best Opeth album, but that doesn't equate to much in my eyes. I love the album title anyway.

Bolt Thrower is an in-crowd mainstay.

Though without hearing it, the general vibe I've gotten is that Mercenary is one of their more popular albums regardless

EDIT: Though apparently that vibe is wrong, it's #6 on RYM.

Yeah I'm wrong about that, though maybe I've just seen/remembered its cover art more on this and other forums. I swear I've seen it posted and discussed more often than War Master at least but I dunno. Mercenary is reviewed more on M-A and also scrobbled more on LastFM than War Master, at least.
