i'm not really arguing because it was just a junk post by myself but, we all know the 4th song since RtL was the ballad right?

sure, but in that case the word 'ballad' becomes useless as a pejorative, since ballads are typically criticised for being sappy and sentimental, which metallica's were not.

Fade to Black is one of the cheesiest and sappiest metal ballads out there (and that doesn't hurt it one bit).

Indeed. Lines such as "I have lost the will to live, simply nothing more to give" are cringy and cheesy taken out of context.

On my holiday there was this beachside bar that played dance remixes of all sorts of songs. Fade to Black was one of them. The thumping drums sounded totally out of place.

I'm not sure you understand the format. People are voting for the weakest/least good track, not the best. So they are voting for "Harvester of Sorrow" to be eliminated first.

Oh, disregard my last post then. Still my favorite song on the CD..

I I like the slower more mid-tempo tracks.
I grew up with Black Sabbath so that's more my style I guess..

Rock on....

Shortest Straw feels kinda goofy, Frayed Ends is pretty intense.
The intro to Frayed Ends is the goofiest part on the whole album. Then they build the main riff to the song around said goofy part.

Shortest Straw is punchy as hell and contains one of my fave Hammet solos.
