Godflesh-Streetcleaner

Oh hell yes. They are still my fav band of all time. I can't wait wait for Justin to bring out his Jesu project. I'm hoping to be doing a cover of Like Rats with my band for a Godflesh tribute cd. Just waiting on approval from the other guy's. (Their not the greatest fans).

It's good to see other people into this truly underground band. I find these people to be very few and far between. I started a Godflesh thread a couple of months ago and got minimal response. Any other albums that have taken your breath away?
I found Pure and Selfless to be worthy releases. Love And Hate... is another fav. A monster of an album that one.

Dude, send me a copy if you wind up covering that song!

All Godflesh albums are pure musical bliss. I never owned Streetcleaner . . . but I have all the others. I've only heard a few songs off Streetcleaner. It is more in line with Pure, I think. Pure happens to be one of the best albums ever made on this planet.

Fucking oath.

I had the pure honor of hosting the Godflesh board for a few months in '02. To be honest though, when I first heard the streetcleaner album in the early 90's I didn't like it. It took me a few years to really 'get it'. Ahead of it time or just ahead of me? I love the album now.

I need more Godflesh albums... at the moment, I only have Streetcleaner, Songs Of Love & Hate and Hymns. But yeah, Streetcleaner rocks like a bastard... I love the way the manage to sound brutally heavy but also somehow frail and vulnerable at the same time... and the song structures have a bizarrely hypnotic, mantra-like effect despite the heaviness... I can't think of any other band like them. :D

They've influenced some great bands that I have been listening to alot now and in the past. Like FEAR FACTORY, ISIS, NEUROSIS, MINISTRY, PITCH SHIFTER to name a few. There's no denying the impact Godflesh have made on their creative process's. ISIS even paid tribute with an awsome cover of Streetcleaner. Justin would be proud I'm sure. I really can't wait for his new guitar based, post Godflesh outfit to emerge. JESU.
