The lack of friends that are into the same music as me pretty much makes sure I go to PP alone. Therefore I hope to talk to people on the forum more this year. Being shy sucks and there are too many good people at the show to be as alone as I have felt since PP4.

Thanks. Getting over my shyness is my main problem, but I'm getting better on that. Thats why I'm going to participate on the board more. Gotta break thru the walls I've built up.:headbang:

Being local and going with other locals I don't actually know most of these people. However, I can tell you they make it very easy to meet them and fit in if you want to. I imagine just going to the Friday lunch in a black t-shirt and asking if you can sit in would snag you over a dozen new friends right there. Pretty cool.

I went alone and met a few buddies from this msg board. I wouldn't care if I knew noone though, cool people are an extra, I pay all this $ for the bands

I'm in the same boat, as I don't know anyone who would spend the $$$ or make the trip down, so I went down by myself and I had a blast. I talked to a number of people both at my seats & while waiting for autograph sessions, and it was a very cool environment. Plust, everyone seems to respect the placeholding spots for the seats, and thus I didn't have to worry about whether taking a leak would cost me a good spot.

Floor > Seats, whats the matter with you!

How about showing up in the chatroom? www.progpowerusa.com/chat/ :D We don't bite.......usually.......

Speak for yourself! ;)

HavocCry- There is a HUGE poster that has a lot of the PP regulars and Virgins on there.

Don't feel silly walking up to people and asking them who they are. That's what saved my behind the first year.

All us loners should get a suite at the RI together. ;)
I'm hoping I can convince my friend to come down next year but that depends on the headliner since he doesn't understand the opportunity to find new bands through this fest and won't travel for bands he can see locally. Oh well, when he comes to love bands like Serenity after the fact, I'll just constantly taunt him for not attending with me.

I went alone last year and had a good time. Didn't hang out with anyone, but that's kind of normal anyway. I did say hi to a few people - and of course you can always meet new people via commenting on each other's tshirts.

I've attended PP since PPII. That year I attended with friends who copped out and wanted to leave early so I missed Kamelot. I was bummed. Since then I have attended alone. I never feel alone but I got lots of questions about it from the security guys and others this weekend. I was free to zip in and out without really checking in with people. It's pretty easy I've found, to meet people down on the floor as you're waiting for the next band to go on. Of course, being shy means I normally need encouragement to go meet my heros. This time I made myself go talk to the FK guys. Their friend with the video camera provided the encouragement! :kickass:

I'll try to hit the chatroom this weekend. Only really have access to my comp on the weekend cause I stay elsewhere during the work week. Anyway hope to talk to ya'll both there and on here.

Yep - great advice! It's an excellent environment to start meeting people, because no one is rushing to take care of bar/restroom/vendor room visits in 30 minutes or less.

Same situation here. I've travelled by myself the last 2 years...although I was fortunate on both trips to meet very cool people on the flight to Atlanta!

I feel your pain! I'm fine in a signing line, but I hate to feel like I'm "bugging" people with my fangirl routine. Someone had to give me a kick in the butt to go talk to Jon and Zak on Wednesday. (And of course, they were both very gracious...)

dude just in between sets just ask someone about the bands playing, who they like and shit, its pretty easy to start a conversation with someone
