So yeah, after fighting with Amplitube and Guitar Rig and not really getting any tolerable sounds, I'm going with a Pod XT. When I get it I hope to get it up and running and be able to contribute to the forum and make some serious music. Thanks everyone on the board for their Pod samples and making great tones.
Also in the meantime of waiting for my Pod XT, I've been addicted to reading every thread in the community forum on the Pod's. Its probably pretty sad but I want to learn everything I can about it so Ic an be prepared when it arrives. Forums can be addictiing. Kind of like that guitar thing.
Just got the 2.5 updates for Guitarport last night, John - haven't had much time to play with it yet, but there's a few cool features - they've added a four-band EQ to the effects chain, a couple of new amp and cab types, the general sound of the amp simulations been given a slight overhaul, and the preset effects have finally been categorised in the pull-down menus according to the genres they're most suited to.
