What's up with the presets on amp modelers?

Use one of LePou's amp simps, LAConvolver with a cab then hi and low pass it. Pan that left, record the same riff as tight as possible and pan it right.

Like others have said but more detailed:

get some of the free amp sims out there that sound great: LePou is a great candidate. Google his free amp sims

Also try and get the tse vst plugin too. Run that in your track's chain first, with the everything left alone except move the volume knob to full, then load an amp sim and turn the gain down to about 4-6 depending on taste. leave the eq how it is, load a IR in a cab sim (Keifer, SIR2, etc) and then give the track a hi and low pass and there you go.

Now record it again and pan it hard left and right. Make a bus that you can route the 2 guitar tracks through (the left and right one) and then add a sprinkle of compression to taste. feel free to throw in some 'verb too and play around with it if you want it to be more flavorful. gl!
