Has anyone used Gold Lion/Genelex tubes? I'm ordering a quad for JCM clone and was debating these or the Tung-Sol EL34's. From what I'm reading they have the mid-hi compression of the EL34's with a more articulate low end.

I know. Everyone loves the Svets. I'm asking about the GL's because I can get a quad for the same price as the =C='s. Coworker has a source in Taiwan and is over there for a couple more days.

I have. Bought Gold Lion KT88s from Doug's tubes for about 100 bucks, and a couple of months later one of the tubes just died. I sent an email to Doug and he recommended something else, because while Gold Lion sounded awesome, they're not too reliable. So I bought some Penta KT88 IIRC, and been very happy ever since. JJ KT88s were mud land for me (too much low mids in a bad way), and the KT77 were a fine alternative to EL34s - more low mid presence.
Hey Jangoux, thanks for the info. How hot did you bias the Gold Lions? It looks like the Penta's are rebranded Shuguangs and have a max dissipation of 50W whereas the Gold Lions are rated at 42W.
