Make that two guitars. In flames play a lot of songs that have four-five guitars on the studio version. They just rearrange them somewhat live. I can't hear any part of Goliaths that would need four guitars. Not even three.

Okay. I haven't listened to that song for a while now. It's just that I've seen the score for the song and there were parts marked for 4 different guitars.

I wonder whether they've played December Flower live WITH the solo? In the Live In Köln 1996 video they skip it and Köln is the only DF-featuring bootleg I have.

I don't see why they would skip the solo. Jesper's more than likely good enough, better than the guest player, even.

I can't remember if they ever played the solo on December flower... There have been endless arguements on In flames forums through the years regarding this. Have they played the solos on December flower or Upon an oaken throne? Who played them? Stuff like that.

Here's what I think:
Glenn used to play most of the solos back in the day. I'm pretty sure he played the solo on Upon an oaken throne for instance. However, I don't think they played the December flower solo. If it's because they were unable to play it, or if they thought they needed a third guitar for it to sound good, I don't know.
Hmm.. I don't even remember what I was going to reply to..

Ah well..
Most of the stuff on Whoracle/Colony/Clayman (even some stuff on TJR) is based on three guitars. One playing the basic chord, a second playing the melody and a third playing the,. uhm.. harmonic guitar.. something. I don't really know what everyting is called in English
Anywayz.. It's always easy to replays the 'first' guitar with the bass live.

Also.. it's hard comparing guitarplayers.. but Jesper wasn't, and most probably still isn't as good as Fredrik Johansson. Just compare the solos of In flames and Dimension zero.
Maybe Björn or Jesper can play the solo in December flower now.. but they don't play that song anymore.. at least to the best of my knowledge....
