Never heard Boris or Disembowelment, tell me more...

dISEMBOWELMENT are pretty much one of the first funeral doom bands around. If you likee shit slow and ugly like Skepticism or Esoteric you pretty much need to check them out. (Their album only "Transcendence into the Peripheral" was re-issued on with demos and shit and few months ago on Relapse, so maybe they have some mp3s or something there.)

Boris started out as Earth/Melvins clone band #10000 in their first album Absolutego, but have moved into a more psych/post-rock influenced direction, kind of reminiscent of stuff like High Rise or some of the older Japanese psych/noise stuff on PSF (if you're like familiar with any of that). Check out their albums Flood, Feedbacker, or Amplifier Worship for their slower doomier stuff, or Heavy Rocks for more rock oriented shit. And their album Akuma no Uta is sort of a 40 minute overview of all their styles and pretty kickass too. (Watch out tho they're also released a bunch of worthless vinyl only albums, and their last full-length "Mabuta no Ura" was awful.)

I cant mention Katatonia's Brave Murder Day enough... Everything about it is just amazing. As long as you can handle some harsh death metal vox you'll find it a really great experience. Also a big FUCK YOU to the people who said sunno. My friend made me sit down and listen to one of their albums all the way through and it was the worst hour of my life... soooo boring. Avoid at all costs.
