What are some of your favorite doom/stoner metal bands?

Nothing beats the original black sabbath album, alot of bands equal it, but not one has surpassed it.

I was worried BLoodstained that you stayed up all night to make that list. Anyhow, can you recommend me any of those rather obscure bands i see on your list?

Everyone should check out the band 'Pelican'. Great instrumental doom shit.

Also check out Buried At Sea, another awesome chicago doom band; I can't stop listening to their album lately \m/

yeah, I wanna hear some more about some of the bands on that list that I don't recognize (particularly any you can recommend that are similar to those that I listed as some of my favorites, typically the super heavy slow sludgey stuff)

I for one like Avrigus, Dissolving of Prodigy (only Time Ruins Also Beauty), The 3rd and the Mortal, Deinonychus, some MDB and Anathema, Tiamat (only Wildhoney), Katatonia, Bethlehem, The Gathering (only Always), Empyrium, Dreams of Sanity, old Galadriel, some Corvus Corax, Lost in Twilight, Howling Syn, Hypnotic Scenery, Thalarion, Silent Stream of Godless Elegy (mostly old stuff), Christian Death, Depresy, Dismal Euphony, Evoken, Green Carnation, Left Hand Solution, Neurosis, Saturnus, Sopor Aeternus, Lux Occulta, and Agalloch. Some of these are not entirely doom metal, but who cares.

hey kids, im new here but this is a topic close to my heart so i figured i should post

zillions of bands have been mentioned so ill list some of my favourite sludgy stoner doom albums yall should check out instead...

electric wizard - dopethrone
eyehategod - confederacy of ruined lives
acidbath - when the kite string pops
down - nola
the obsessed - incarnate, or for that matter any other wino project
beaver - 13 or mobile, not really metal but good 'interesting' stoner
pod people - doom saloon, an australian band who do doom well
grief, anything
the melvins, gluey porch treatments is sludgetastic

i sorta split this genre in two, theres the more 'metal' sounding style of doom with a very melodic almost neo-classical feel which you hear in older anathema, my dying bride and bands of that ilk and the more 'stoner/sludge' side which is bluesier like eyehategod et al...

i used to listen to a lot of stoner/doom stuff but cant help but feel that the genre/s are stagnating these days, stoner rock in particular. there are certainly good bands out there who try to push the genre but if i had a dollar for every fu-manchu clone, id have like 500 bucks by now....
