I love Gorillaz, especially the 1st album. Good production and groove, and the rap, when present, adds a great flavor to the track. I dont know what you guys have against rap. I personally greatly respect rap when its not just talking about money, guns, and bitches, heard mainly from Mainstream rappers. Gorillaz are not a corpratly contructed group used to make money, they are quite against that. Which is why they are cartoons, to detract from stardom and have the focus be the music.

I haven't heard much of their first album but I didn't dig what I heard. The new album though surprised me a lot! It's fucking awesome in some parts, the only drawback I found was that the songs tend to be a bit redundant and they drag on a lot sometimes. If it had more rap/hiphop and a few slightly faster paced parts(as someone who listens to primarily grind, I seem to want everything to be faster) I would say this album is top notch.I'm also surprised by how many people in the metal community dig them. I was afaid to say I liked them until now!

I like Gorillaz , actually . They've got a really unique style , different than the usual bullshit I hear on the radio . Some of their stuff is a bit monotonous though ... but overall I like em
