Is Metal actually popular in Scandinavia, or is that just bullshit I've heard from every Metalhead I've met here resentful of the music on the radio?

Well, at least here everybody listens to Nightwish and even "normal people" know and listen to many mainstream acts such as Children of Bodom or Amorphis. Metal-related news and articles are often featured in newspapers, there are metal shows all the time, almost all festivals have metal bands, and we got kids like this everywhere:

But underground metal is just as marginal here, as in most countries.

I mean this is basically a pop song with "harsh" vocals and heavy guitars and apparently this is what we're calling melodic death metal now. I have nothing wrong with women in metal but this whole pretty female vocalist gimmick thing that's been going on for a few years now is seriously getting old.

Amaranthe don't seem that bad. Super poppy, but sometimes that's what you want. Metal doesn't have to all be kvlt as fuck. It's not like having pop metal albums in existence means copies of true metal albums get burnt to make room.


Melodic pop metal > deathcore and most metalcore.

While it's refreshing to see a band play hardcore not infused with melodeah or death metal, that was just awful. I hate how breakdowns are done in all the -core bands these days, with the cheesy vocal effects and the out of tune sounding dissonant guitar riffs. And anyone who gets a tattoo on his face is fucking retarded.

I think a lot of emos (and the like) just have a receding hairline that they're embarrassed about. All of that spilled milk and crying over past relationships can be stressful and it can really take a toll on the body. So naturally, they'll want to cover it up by combing their bangs forward.

But contrary to popular belief, homosexuals typically don't have hair like that. They usually keep it very clean and short. Really, it's too feminine to be attractive to homosexuals as well.
